Acturis Group is a software provider to the global travel insurance, international health and assistance market, the company was founded in 2000 by David McDonald and Theo Duchen, two former McKinsey partners. Acturis launched the first multi-tenant industry-specific SaaS platform in July 2002.
ACTURIS LTD. Recent Developments
In May 2021, Acturis partnered with specialist insurance provider CFC to expand the e-trade capabilities of the Acturis platform with the launch of the CFC Cyber NOW product. This is the first CFC product to be made available via Acturis. Acturis brokers can now access Cyber NOW directly via their broker management system to quote and bind risks easily within a matter of minutes. The product includes the same broad coverage provided under the CFC’s full Cyber Private Enterprise wording. This includes affirmative cybercrime cover including social engineering, theft of personal funds, cyber extortion, cryptojacking and more.
In January 2020 Acturis launched its latest Acturis E-Trade product.
The new product has been specifically designed to suit Acturis and caters to the demands and needs of the retail industry. The new shop's product is available for both independent shopkeepers trading from a single location as well as chains and franchises with multiple premises.
In November 2019 ACTURIS acquired Add Value Assurances France a provider of commercial eTrade platform, this acquisition gave Acturis a significant presence in France. This partnership gives Acturis a significant presence in France.
This partnership with a very well-known and respected player in the French market is an exciting growth opportunity for the Group, continuing their track record of international acquisitions and partnerships with innovative market leaders in new territories.
ACTURIS LTD. Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Activities
In April 2021, Acturis acquired Brovada from Willis Towers Watson. Brovada is an electronic trading enabler in the Canadian general insurance market used by over 2,000 brokers and most insurers. Brokers use the BrovadaOne Connectivity product to enable digital communication from their broker management system straight to the insurer’s portals, creating significant efficiencies for brokers and insurers alike. For Insurers, the BrovadaOne product enables insurers to digitally connect with a multitude of different broker systems, avoiding expensive underwriter re-keying and helping insurers provide a digital interface to a broad range of external systems.
In July 2017 ACTURIS acquired LUTRONIK Gmbh (broker software company serving insurance brokers in the German market) based in Wesel, Germany. The combination of Assfinet and Lutronik will allow Acturis to ramp up and accelerate electronic trading between insurers and brokers and enlarge our already substantial electronic broker distribution channel in Germany, while Lutronic customers will get full access to the standards of connectivity and integration with tariff comparison systems and insurers that Acturis provides.
In 2017, Acturis acquired ICE InsureTech which provides a modular, user-configurable, enterprise insurance suite covering the entire P&C process including ICE Claims, ICE Policy, ICE Billing, ICE Analytics and ICE Digital.

Acturis continued to invest an increasing amount in their platforms and technology (£15.1m in 2020). This enables them to maintain their position in electronic trading, extend their support for mobile services, invest in the development of AI and data services, improve UX experiences for customers and support their clients in the transition to digital insurance.
In 2019, Acturis Group entered the Canadian market by acquiring Zycomp Systems (provider of broker management software solutions with over 800 installations across Canada and the Caribbean). In parallel, Acturis has started the process of deployment of the Acturis SaaS platform in the Canadian market which will allow Canadian brokers, insurers and MGAs to benefit from leading edge connectivity and e-trade, and the multi-channel, multi-language capabilities of the system.

In April 2021, Insurance technology provider Acturis partnered with RAC, one of the UK insurance sector’s leading breakdown underwriters. The partnership expands the e-trading capabilities of Acturis’ award-winning cloud platform with the launch of new private, commercial and fleet breakdown products.
In March 2020 Acturis partnered with Ageas to expand the personal lines offering of its platform with the launch of the latest Ageas product House Guard. Ageas household insurance product features Insurer Hosted Pricing offering brokers up-to-date Ageas rates and sophisticated underwriting process directly through the Acturis platform. Brokers can now trade House Guard with peril-related premiums and a wider underwriting footprint that covers more property types and customers. The product also supports FloodRe, allowing for suitable risks to be ceded to the FloodRe pool by the insurer, enabling Acturis brokers to offer affordable cover to those living in flood-prone areas.
In February 2020 Acturis partnered with QOMPLX:UNDERWRITING to expand the e-trade offering of its platform with the launch of the parametric multi-peril insurance product WonderCover(the product, focussed on SMEs and backed by Chaucer, the international speciality (re)insurance group, is now available to brokers via the Acturis platform as a standalone policy or as an additional cover to other lines of business, giving Acturis brokers increased flexibility on what they can offer their customers).
