Apttus Recent Developments
In May 2018, Apttus launched Apttus Omni, the world’s first Intelligent Middle Office Platform that maximizes business outcomes for enterprises by improving the efficiency of revenue, contract and procurement operations across sales, operations, finance, legal, and other functional groups.
The company also created the Omni Accelerator group, an international engineering and research lab dedicated to innovating ground-breaking Middle Office solution capabilities tied to the company’s Omni platform.
Apttus Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Activities
In May 2020, Apttus acquired Conga and takes its name in $715m deal. The combined business becomes one of the biggest players in the Salesforce ecosystem, claiming more than 10,000 enterprise and mid-market customers who bring in annual revenues of $400 million — and adds a new twist to an already tortuous history.
Thoma Bravo, a private equity investment firm acquired a majority interest in Apttus, the global Middle Office leader in 2018. The transaction was closed in early October.

Apttus Market Opportunities, M&A and Geo Expansions
In February 2020, Apttus partnered with Netcompany, an international company headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark. Apttus will leverage Netcompany’s pure-play IT services and consultative selling approach to ensure swift delivery of its Quote-to-Cash solution, and drive rapid adoption of digital transformation in both the private and public sectors.
As of January 2019, Frank Holland sits as the CEO of Apttus. He most recently led Microsoft’s Dynamics CRM and ERP products’ growth, directing its global salesforce in delivering a portfolio of on-premise and cloud offerings. Additionally, he directed key aspects of Microsoft’s business expansion and competitive positioning efforts, such as the customer-facing due diligence process associated with the $26 billion acquisition of LinkedIn in 2016. Before taking on the role as CVP of Dynamics, Holland ran Microsoft’s $4 billion advertising sales business. He was Microsoft’s Corporate Vice President of Operations, focusing on order-to-cash functions and field operations.
In January 2018, IBM joined multiple investors in Apttus’ Series E funding. Apttus plans to use this investment to further its plan to deliver AI-based business solutions to customers around the world within enterprise processes such as revenue generation and management of commercial relationships.
Apttus Risks and Challenges
Apptus’ risk lies in its dependence on the Salesforce.com ecosystem, which is becoming increasingly cluttered with similar offerings chasing the same target audience. The question is whether Apptus should mitigate the risk by porting its products to run in other Public Clouds.
