In October 2018, Blackboard stated that Blackboard Mobile Credential support for Student ID cards in Apple Wallet, which brings students the ability to add their student ID to Wallet on iPhone and Apple Watch. Blackboard Mobile Credential support for Student ID cards in Apple Wallet creates a seamless experience for students navigating campus by offering secure access to facilities, residence halls, and more, as well as payments for dining, laundry, vending, and retail.
Blackboard Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Activities
Blackboard acquired X-Ray Analytics, a tool for predicting student performance trends, which will be integrated into the company's open-source learning management systems Moodlerooms and Enterprise Moodle.
This is the second purchase in the open-source space since Blackboard's somewhat controversial acquisition of Moodlerooms and NetSpot back in 2012, which were seen as a major strategic shift for the company since the platform is in direct competition with Blackboard's flagship LMS product.

Blackboard Market Opportunities, M&A and Geo Expansions
In July 2020 Blackboard launched the Reporting Tier for the Blackboard Data platform, which will give institutions access to reports designed to provide insights on the use of learning tools within the Blackboard SaaS EdTech ecosystem.
