In November 2018, ChannelAdvisor made a data sharing agreement with NPD Group, a market information company that provides data, industry expertise, and prescriptive analytics for more than 20 industries. NPD will share stock status data with ChannelAdvisor to help enhance Buy Local capabilities for manufacturers. Buy has selected ChannelAdvisor as a strategic partner to expand Best Buy’s Marketplace. ChannelAdvisor had an addition of Alibaba Group’s Tmall Global solution to the ChannelAdvisor platform. ChannelAdvisor Corporation integrated its digital marketing platform with Yahoo Gemini, Yahoo’s unified marketplace for mobile search and native advertising.

ChannelAdvisor Risks and Challenges

ChannelAdvisor incurred net losses of $16.6 million and $8.0 million during the years ended December 31, 2017, and 2016, respectively, and had an accumulated deficit of $180.1 million as of December 31, 2017. It is possible that ChannelAdvisor operating expenses will increase in the foreseeable future as they invest in increased sales and marketing and research and development efforts. To achieve profitability, ChannelAdvisor will need to either increase their revenue sufficiently to offset increasing expenses or reduce the insurance levels. ChannelAdvisor recent revenue growth may not be sustainable, and if they are forced to reduce expenses, growth strategy could be compromised. Motoroso is a niche channel with more than a thousand brands available for purchase. For more than a decade, ChannelAdvisor has been a trusted e-commerce solution to many automotive and powersports retailers. The integration between ChannelAdvisor and Motoroso will give brands and retailers access to an elevated e-commerce experience. ChannelAdvisor sells subscriptions to its SaaS solutions primarily through its direct sales force. Its system integrators partners include Ecomitize, Kevy, and Odin Technologies.

In 2017 ChannelAdvisor expanded their research and development capabilities with new talent through organic growth, acquisition and expanding operations overseas with the opening of a new research and development facility in Madrid, Spain. In November 2018, ChannelAdvisor and Interpark made a new strategic partnership to accelerate e-commerce sales in South Korea.
