GFI Informatique Market Opportunities, M&A and Geo Expansions
Gfi Informatique has finalized two new acquisitions in Morocco: Capital Consulting (70%), a strategy consulting firm in Morocco and French-speaking Africa and Archos Technology (100%) specializing in IT services. These new acquisitions follow the acquisition in 2018 of one of the flagships in information technology, specializing in the integration of SAP solutions, ValuePass Consulting. This transaction is also part of a new Moroccan legal era, the said acquisitions constituting the first and second operations subject to the merger control procedure by the Competition Council of Morocco whose first members were appointed in early 2019.
In March 2016, GFI acquired IMPAQ Group of Poland for its IT services and software packages for anti-money laundering (AML) and fraud detection (Credit Fraud, Web Fraud), either in On-Premise or SaaS model. Clients of IMPAQ include T-Mobile, PZU, Allianz, Nokia, P&G, Ikea, Commerzbank, BGZ BNP Paribas, Cembra and ship-owner MSC. The purchase will add both BPO capacity as well as application expertise to GFI.
GFI Informatique Risks and Challenges
The Gfi Group operates in a constantly changing environment and is exposed to risks that, if they materialised, could have a significant adverse effect on its business, reputation, financial condition (including its operating results and cash flows) and its ability to achieve its objectives. This section presents the main risks to which the Group believes it is exposed.
In 2016, Mannai Corporation, an IT services company with $1.7 billion in revenues and 6,100 employees, acquired a 51% stake in GFI. The purchase helped GFI sell more integrated solutions into regions like the Middle East and India where the Qatar-based Mannai has already achieved a sizable presence. The result could be a bigger wallet share among accounts like Saint-Gobain and Engie as well as joint accounts in financial services, industrials, and the public sector. The flip side is that a single point of accountability will be needed to ensure consistent results and project successes as GFI aims to sell more packaged solutions through Mannai.
