• To date, Kronos has secured over 20,000 customers in the Kronos Cloud. • In 2016, Kronos acquired Empower Software Solutions adding nearly 1,000 organizations to the Kronos customer community. , which specializes in HCM apps with over 1,000 customers mostly small firms. Kronos Cloud has secured over 17,000 customers, compared with 15,000 last year. • In Aug. 19, 2015, - Kronos acquired the AutoTime® business from Kaba Workforce Solutions - the North American operating subsidiary of Switzerland-based Kaba Holding AG (SWISS: KABN). • With the 2015 acquisition of Chicago-based physician scheduling vendor, Productive Scheduling Solutions, Kronos Incorporated has further extended its leadership in helping healthcare organizations manage their workforces by leveraging a complete, enterprise-wide workforce management solution. • The time clock business is still a healthy one for Kronos, as the company shipped its 1 millionth time clock in June 2015. The latest time clock offered by Kronos is called Kronos InTouch, and it includes features such as touchscreens, battery packs in case of power outages, and video streaming and is WiFi ready. The terminals can also come equipped with biometric verification capabilities, gaming features, or the ability to host customized applications. The Kronos InTouch can also be designed for harsh work environments found in locations like factories or manufacturing plants.

Kronos Incorporated Strengths

In July 2017, Kronos announced another big jump in its Cloud revenues, which rose 45% for its third quarter of fiscal 2017.

With 90% of new customer bookings coming from the Cloud, Kronos’ transition from an on-premise workforce management applications vendor into a Cloud-first organization is almost complete, 10 years after it went private.

Now with more than 22,000 organizations running Kronos Cloud, the vendor has once again dominated the workforce management apps market regardless of the delivery model.

For decades, Kronos has been the dominant player in the workforce management market with tens of thousands of companies running its scheduling, time and attendance, labor activity absence management, human resources and payroll applications to measure and improve productivity on a global scale.

Its foray into Cloud delivery of such products has been equally impressive.

In July 2017, more than 22,000 have either purchased or migrated to Cloud-based workforce management and human capital management applications from Kronos.

By comparison, the figure stood at 12,000 in June 2014, 10,000 by end of 2013, and 6,000 by end of 2012.

More than half of its customers are on Kronos Cloud, suggesting its successes in selling Cloud offerings into new customers as well as existing clients moving quickly to migrate to the Cloud.

Some of these customers now have tens of thousands of users running Kronos Cloud, including one that signed a multi-year SaaS deal worth $22 million in 2015.

The impetus behind the steep ramp was the 2012 acquisition of SaaShr, a Cloud-based HCM applications vendor that made its name by delivering HR, payroll and workforce management applications through different channels, including private-label products for other ISVs, Business Process Outsourcers and other partners.

The use of such reseller partners has broadened Kronos’ reach, winning Cloud customers that normally would have been considered costly and difficult to sell into using its own sales resources.

In other cases, Kronos has been able to migrate many of its small and midsized customers to its Cloud products, allowing them to add additional modules at an attractive price point.

Kronos offers Workforce Ready in the Kronos Cloud for small and midsize businesses.

For enterprise customers, it makes its flagship product Workforce Central available in the Kronos Cloud.

In May 2013 Kronos struck a partnership with SuccessFactors, an SAP company, to resell its Cloud-based workforce management applications into the latter’s installed base of 5,000 customers.

Similar to the private-labeling approach of SaaShr, the deal with SuccessFactors underscores the power of the Kronos-inside strategy, which has grown to be the standard bearer in the workforce management market after a stellar track record that began when it was founded in 1977 as a time clock developer.

Since then, Kronos hit one major milestone after another first posting $2 million in revenues in 1981, followed by $120 million in 1995 and half a billion dollars in 2005.

In 2014 Kronos exceeded an annual run-rate of $1 billion.
