SCORES Analysis

SumTotal Systems, a Skillsoft Company Strengths

The launch of Precipio in 2017 marks a major milestone for Skillsoft, a leading learning management vendor.

Precipio is positioned as an immersive learning platform, meaning that it has all the bells and whistles of a modern interface with a full supporting cast of pre-curated channels, micro-learning courses all designed to give learners the choice of where, when, and how to learn.

In other words, Skillsoft, which also operates SumTotal for Core HR and talent management, is empowering individual users to take charge of the learning process at a time when the learning marketplace is evolving into a moving target with the advent of social media, smartphones and virtual assistants from Alexa to Watson.

Skillsoft, which has had a long history of selling learning management systems and content, realizes that the marketplace is placing greater value on user experience than the size of its content library since content can now be created by almost anyone in a matter of minutes.

On the other side of the coin is SumTotal.

In 2017, it released the SumTotal Talent Expansion Suite, bringing talent, learning, recruitment, and workforce management into one platform.

This release includes expanded access to learning content, enhancements to the visually engaging user interface, improved browsing and search capabilities, and deployment flexibility to meet the complex requirements of modern organizations, both in the cloud and on premise.

The suite offers new features in Career Planning and Job Matching as well as new UI for mobile users, continuous performance feedback enhancements, Windows 10 and Windows Surface integration, as well as workforce management.

The Performance Management module also allows managers to offer feedback to selected individuals, and can link users back to specific goals and competencies, while streamlined form-based approvals optimize the learning process.

The new releases reinforce Skillsoft’s commitment to enhancing the key components within SumTotal, while taking its leadership position in enterprise learning to the next level.
