In June 2020, SYSPRO provided 500 unemployed individuals in the manufacturing and distribution sector with unlimited access to SYSPRO Learning Channel, an online education platform, at no cost for a six month period. This initiative aims to increase a candidate’s chance of being successful in today’s exceptionally competitive market adversely impacted by COVID-19 pandemic.

In April 2020, SYSPRO enhanceed its latest ERP product offering, which further extends SYSPRO’s leadership within the manufacturing and distribution sectors. SYSPRO 8, the company’s latest ERP version that was first released in 2018, sees new capabilities being added twice a year. The first release for 2020 offers existing and new customers superior security, governance and compliance, enhanced traceability, extended tools for development, and greater tax support. SYSPRO Market Opportunities, M&A and Geo Expansions

In April 2020, SYSPRO apointed Scott Hebert as Chief Sales Officer in the United States. In this role, Hebert will be responsible for leading all sales revenue and growth across the US. In February the same year, Brian Rainboth joined as the General Manager for Canada.

SYSPRO Cloud is an infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) offering. SYSPRO offers direct IaaS users may additionally opt to license the SYSPRO software on a subscription basis. This delivers business value without requiring any upfront investment and without the overheads of an in-house IT infrastructure. As an IaaS provider, SYSPRO hosts the customer virtual machine, managing the underlying equipment and getting the storage and other resources as needed.

SYSPRO Cloud is available via the Microsoft Azure "cloud" platform and hosted at data centers throughout the world. This allows SYSPRO customers to leverage various Azure capabilities like AI/ML bot technology. In addition to its full menu of on-premise and Cloud hosting options, SYSPRO made further advances with a slew of enhancements to its mobile offering, Espresso.

SYSPRO's mobile offerings include new features such as built-in security along with an embedded management tool that controls the content delivered to specific devices used by the designated users, allowing for greater corporate control over its mobile policy. Other features include a single source code base to create integrated and native apps for any device.

SYSPRO also offers Harmony, which offers enterprise-wide collaboration through social collaboration tools. Furthermore, SYSPRO expects to deliver more industry-specific functions to support process manufacturers especially in the area of compliance. Other planned improvements have to do with warehousing, traceability and project management.

Syspro has selected Australia as its next region for channel growth after luring over a handful of talent over 2019. Syspro, which specializes in ERP solutions for niche manufacturing and distribution verticals, hired Rob Stummer to lead the Australasian business in February this year. Six months later, Stummer was promoted to CEO of Asia-Pacific. Since his appointment, Stummer has been working towards growing Syspro's channel presence in APAC, but particularly in Australia, where the vendor has predominantly gone direct. For a vendor that specializes in niche manufacturing industries, it can be tricky to lure new partners.

SYSPRO Risks and Challenges

By embracing AI, ML, and IoT, SYSPRO proves that it's capable of pushing the ERP envelope on behalf of its mid-market customers and partners. The issue is how best SYSPRO can align its new direction with the expectations of its key constituents, many of which remain heavily entrenched in Microsoft's client-server space. Overcoming that inertia for a well-established ecosystem and its customers will be SYSPRO's challenge over the next five to 10 years.

In October 2019 SYSPRO has partnered with the Clean Energy Smart Manufacturing Innovation Institute (CESMII) as part of a community that is helping U.S. manufacturing companies adopt smart manufacturing practices and technologies. The membership community brings together industry, academia, and federal partners within a growing network of advanced manufacturing institutes to increase U.S. manufacturing competitiveness and promote a robust and sustainable national manufacturing R&D infrastructure. As part of the partnership, CESMII and SYSPRO will work to bring awareness of the CESMII Smart Manufacturing (SM) Platform to its nation-wide midmarket manufacturing customers. SYSPRO is committed to the CESMII mission of enabling SM and looks forward to working with them to become the driving sustainable engine that delivers real-time business improvements in U.S. manufacturing.

Syspro is aware of this and considers its differentiation from its competition. In 2018, SYSPRO updated its channel ecosystem by rolling out PartnerUP program with a heavy emphasis on partner certification that aims to boost and validate the skills of sales, pre-sales, and implementation consultants. It signed more than 20 new partners within the first two months after kicking off PartnerUp, which covers three new classes of resellers - sales partners, implementation partners, and specialized solution partners.
