Tableau Recent Developments

By the end of 2018, Tableau unveiled AI and NLP tools intended to improve users' experience with its BI platform by adding smart capabilities to Tableau 2019.

The same period, Tableau Software released new product integrations with industry leading technology providers, from mapping to data cataloging, that extend Tableau’s powerful analytics capabilities to better fit customers’ needs: Amazon Web Services (AWS), Informatica Tableau Hyper Connector, Unifi Data Catalog and Native Microsoft Azure SQL Data Warehouse Connector.

Tableau M&A Activities

In June 2018, Tableau acquired Empirical Systems, a pioneering artificial intelligence startup that originated at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Probabilistic Computing Project.

With Empirical Systems’ automated statistical analysis technology integrated into the Tableau platform, Tableau customers will more easily gain insight into their data, without needing to manually build the complex underlying data models that would otherwise be necessary.
