Conexus is Saskatchewan's largest and Canada's sixth largest credit union. Conexus has $7.14 billion in total funds managed and approximately 120,000 members. Over 900 employees and sales professionals throughout the province. Headquartered in Regina, Saskatchewan, Conexus Credit Union provides a complete range of financial solutions, including banking, loan and mortgage services, and financial planning and investment services. 

Scope and Challenges

Conexus Credit Union has unified its HR, recruitment, and talent management using Ultimate’s comprehensive cloud solution, UltiPro.

Prior to going live on UltiPro, the HR team at Conexus found they were losing good candidates during the application process due to confusion and the required repetitive tasks. Applicants for an open position had to enter the same information multiple times, and applicants logging onto Conexus’ homepage were transferred to other sites that did not have the credit union’s branding. Previous applicants had to start from scratch and fill out the same personal information again. Moreover, applicants were frequently unsure if their application had gone through correctly, as there were no notifications informing them that the process was completed. 

Outcome and Implications

UltiPro also helps ensure that Conexus presents a cohesive image of the brand with every interaction, affirming its value proposition throughout the process. “We have the freedom to customize the posting language to align with our culture and tagline, ensuring a consistent visual identity,” said Nistor. “As recruiting becomes more like marketing, companies need to embrace the idea of a strong talent brand, which has been shown to reduce cost per hire by over 50% and lower turnover by 28%.” 

Conexus is no longer losing valuable candidates to a frustrating recruitment process. “Last year, we posted a position in one of our centers and received 12 applicants,” said Nistor. “One year later, we posted this same position with UltiPro and received 37 applicants.” 

The time it takes Conexus’ talent acquisition team to review applications has been reduced as well. A process that used to take 25 minutes is completed in less than 10, a time savings of 150% per applicant. Best of all, said Nistor, “We have found an increase in the quality of candidates since implementing UltiPro’s recruiting feature.”
