In 2015, StepStone implemented SAP Business ByDesign as its ERP Financial solution across Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. SAP hosts the customized cloud solution in Germany, providing a centrally managed deployment designed for high-volume recruiting operations.
The implementation configured SAP Business ByDesign to deliver rapid integrated analytics and business reporting, a 360-degree account view for sales, multichannel sales order processing, and automation of the order-to-publish workflow so call agents could grant instant access upon order confirmation. StepStone used SAP Cloud Applications Studio to adapt and extend cloud features, evolving a horizontal multipurpose product into a specialized vertical configuration for online recruitment. The deployment emphasized improved data integrity and reduced administrative overhead across sales and operations.
Vacancy data was ingested from social networks, company web sites and other channels to support recruiters and sales teams, and the platform was sized to handle high transaction volumes, with up to 1,000 transactions per day between recruiters and contact activity in Germany exceeding 5,000 company contacts per day. SAP hosting in Germany was used to support an unlimited number of users without impeding performance, and the rollout targeted zero downtime and high reliability from go live to meet operational requirements.
Governance focused on unifying a fragmented software landscape into a single cloud system, strengthening cross-departmental connections from customer outreach through to service setup, and standardizing sales and order fulfillment workflows. Reported outcomes included accelerated time-to-market for publishing vacancies, higher operational efficiency, and increased customer satisfaction.

The configuration emphasized core applicant tracking and onboarding capabilities, including job posting, online application intake, candidate record management, screening queues, offer handling and onboarding task orchestration. eArcu ATS & Onboarding was configured to manage requisition lifecycles, maintain candidate profiles and automate routing rules that move candidates through defined hiring stages and trigger post hire onboarding tasks.
The eArcu instance is embedded into StepStone's public career site to deliver candidate facing application flows while feeding HR facing dashboards and pipeline views. Operational coverage centers on Talent Acquisition and HR functions, with recruiters and hiring managers using the platform for candidate pipelines, requisition approvals and onboarding task lists, and with role based access controls applied to separate recruiter and manager responsibilities.
Governance focused on standardizing requisition approval workflows, defining hiring stages and formalizing onboarding checklists to create repeatable operational procedures. Rollout and process ownership remained with HR and talent acquisition, and the deployment is presented on the careers site as eArcu eRecruitment Evolved to surface a unified applicant experience and structured onboarding intake.
