Opportunities
In March 2015 Skillsoft acquired Vodeclic SAS for its library of more than 25,000 short, highly engaging video tutorials.
Risks
The recent $1.5-billion acquisition of Lynda by LinkedIn could spell increased competition for Skillsoft, which now confronts a new wave of well-heeled competitors that have leveraged Youtube, Facebook and other channels to rewrite the rules of online learning. The future of elearning is likely to change even more radically with the convergence of social media, mobility and online education and it’s not clear Skillsoft has the wherewithal to weather the storm.
Its recent decision to acquire Vodeclic SAS for its library of more than 25,000 short, highly engaging video tutorials underscores the fact that Skillsoft is taking this threat seriously.
Ecosystem
Skillsoft’s channel partners include Business Training Library, CAI, Career Partners International, CBT Direct, Cornerstone OnDemand, Corporate Executive Board, e- LearningCenter, Enterprise Training Solutions, ExecuTrain, Halogen Software, IBM/Lotus Learning Software, Innovatia, LeaderQuest, Manpower, NetLearning, New Horizons, New York Wired for Education, SumTotal Systems, Technology Skills, TrainUp and TTNlearning.
