Cvent Recent Developments

In June 2021, Cvent unveiled an integration with Uber for Business, Uber’s enterprise arm. Through this integration, organizations can enhance virtual attendee engagement and facilitate seamless ground transportation options for meeting planners and in-person event attendees. This collaboration brings together two industry leaders to support the changing needs of event planners and marketers who are looking to maximize the impact of their in-person, virtual, and hybrid events.

In August 2020 Cvent, unveiled its all-new virtual event solution, the Cvent Virtual Attendee Hub. Built to work seamlessly with Cvent’s unmatched suite of event marketing and management solutions, the Cvent Virtual Attendee Hub delivers a fully branded, turnkey virtual event experience. The Cvent platform powers all event types – whether in-person, virtual, or hybrid – providing organizations with the one solution they need to run their entire events program.

The Virtual Attendee Hub includes everything organizations need to deploy a virtual event experience to reach and engage virtual audiences like never before. The solution includes fully integrated, enterprise-class webcasting technology that allows planners and marketers to confidently deliver immersive, interactive content to any device, anywhere in the world.

In July 2019, Cvent unveiled its new Cvent Community at its annual user conference, Cvent CONNECT. Driven by strong customer growth and a continued focus on customer success, Cvent launched the Community to foster peer-to-peer engagement, offer a forum where product users can share best practices, enhance how users engage with Cvent solutions, and streamline their access to educational resources.

Cvent Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Activities

In July 2021, Cvent and Dragoneer Growth Opportunities Corp, a special purpose acquisition company merged. The combined company will operate as Cvent Holding Corp. and is expected to trade under the ticker symbol “CVT”.

In May 2019, Cvent acquired Wedding Spot, a leading wedding venue sourcing platform. More than 12,000 special event venues and hotels utilize Wedding Spot to attract wedding business to their properties. Cvent acquired Wedding Spot to bring additional group business opportunities to the more than 260,000 hotels and venues that currently utilize the Cvent Supplier Network, further accelerating Cvent’s product roadmap and global growth in the hospitality sector.

Furthermore, in June 2019, Cvent acquired DoubleDutch, one of the unique leaders in the mobile event app industry based in San Francisco. The acquisition of DoubleDutch highlights Cvent’s investment in the mobile technology space and will complement and grow the company’s signature mobile event app and onsite solution capabilities. Cvent Market Opportunities, M&A and Geo Expansions

In August 2021, Cvent launched Cvent Studio, new video capture and production solution built for virtual and hybrid events. Cvent Studio enables event planners to easily create professional-quality video content for their webinars, virtual events, and hybrid events, helping them attract and more deeply engage their online audiences. Through Cvent Studio’s state-of-the-art functionality, planners will have the tools they need to up-level their virtual events into immersive, fully branded experiences including the ability to pre-build each segment of their webinar or broadcast before going live, and leverage streamlined presenter tools to deliver broadcast-quality live or pre-recorded video with minimal effort.

In the first quarter of 2019, 1,200 new customers selected Cvent. The new customers further expand Cvent’s global customer base, which includes more than 50 percent of the Fortune 500 and 80 percent of the Fortune 100. To support its rapid growth, Cvent plans to increase recruiting efforts and continue its global headcount expansion by adding nearly 1,000 employees in 2019.

Cvent expects to grow its worldwide employee base by another 1,000 in 2019, including many at its headquarters.

The growth follows a busy 2018 for the company, which saw it acquire D.C.-based event and planning startup Social Tables, in addition to QuickMobile and Kapow. Those efforts combined added some 5,000 new customers and 1,000 net new employees to Cvent in 2018 alone.

Since its founding in 1999, Cvent has built a thriving franchise in the online event management market.

The question is whether Cvent can parlay its successes in the small to medium corporate event business into more large-scale corporate events in order to optimize and scale out its technology footprint.

In August 2021, Amadeus and Cvent Expanded Partnership to Increase Bookings for Small Meetings & Events. The agreement allows hotels that use Amadeus Sales & Event Management to expose their function space to Cvent planners, enabling them to seamlessly book any available inventory, at any time, without requiring the traditional RFP process.

In December 2020, Cvent partnered with Aimbridge Hospitality (“Aimbridge”) for event diagramming and virtual site tour technology. Through the partnership agreement, more than 1,400 properties operated by Aimbridge worldwide will have the option of preferred access to three of Cvent’s solutions: Cvent Event Diagramming, Photo-Realistic 3D, and Interactive Floor Plans.

In addition to its US direct sales force, Cvent has built a network of sales, tech, and services partners that sell into local markets in Europe and other regions.
