In November 2021, ECI Software acquired INSEARCH, a cloud-based construction business management solution. Acquiring INSEARCH allows ECI to strengthen and expand the existing integration between INSEARCH and MarkSystems so that its MarkSystems users have access to one of the best 2D and 3D interactive software experiences on the market. This enables ECI to offer an even better product experience to home builders and land developers across the United States, and help those builders and developers sell their inventory faster and offer their buyers a more customized experience.
In June 2020, ECI released significant enhancements to its Spruce and RockSolid MAX software for hardware retailers and lumber and building materials businesses. With these new updates—which offer more convenient, omni-channel retailing experiences—users will be able to improve productivity, efficiency and competitive advantage. The company also added a new Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) integration with United Hardware to offer customers simplified communications with a leading hardware vendor.
In June 2019, ECi Software released upgraded versions of its LBMH division software products: Spruce, an end-to-end management software for the lumber and building materials industry, and RockSolid MAX, a cloud-based POS software for independent hardware stores, home centers and convenience lumberyards. These updates include significant new industry specific features that provide opportunity for hardware stores and LBM businesses to run more efficient operations.
ECi Software Solutions Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Activities
By the end of 2021, Leonard Green & Partners (“LGP”) acquired a majority stake in ECI Software from funds advised by Apax Partners and The Carlyle Group. Upon completion of the transaction, funds advised by Apax Partners, which acquired ECI in 2017, will retain a minority stake in ECI.
In October 2021, ECI Software acquired Merchant Systems Group Ltd, the UK-based developer of the eCommonSense platform, an ecommerce and product data management solution specifically designed for merchants and suppliers in the construction products supplies sector. eCommonSense will join ECI’s LBM and Hardlines group, which will leverage eCommonSense as both an integration to its cloud-based ERP solutions as well as a standalone global eCommerce solution.
In June 2020, ECI has agreed to acquire substantially all of the assets of Prosperity, a software company serving the lumber, building materials (LBM) and hardlines industry. Prosperity will become part of ECI’s LBMH Group.
In August 2019, ECI has acquired Netherlands-based Trivest Beheer B.V., a provider of smart vertical software solutions to the SME manufacturing sector. With this acquisition, Trivest’s nearly 3,000 customers and more than 300 employees will join ECI’s manufacturing division. Trivest provides industry-specific software solutions for small to mid-sized companies in the manufacturing sector, including ERP (enterprise resource planning) software, APM (advanced production management system) software, MES (manufacturing execution system) software, CAD/CAM design software, business intelligence solutions and mobile applications.
In July 2019, ECi Software acquired Pacsoft, a provider of inventory management and point of sale software solutions for hardware retail and trade businesses worldwide and with a significant presence in the Australian, New Zealand, and Pacific Islands markets.
In December 2018, ECi Software Solutions acquired Lasso Data Systems, a provider of cloud-based CRM software for new home marketing and sales. Lasso’s product suite includes a feature-rich CRM solution built exclusively for the homebuilding industry, including lead management, automated engagement and follow-up processes, email marketing and comprehensive reporting capabilities.
The same month ECi Software acquired Print Audit, one of the most comprehensive providers of device and print management solutions worldwide. Print Audit’s product suite includes tools for managed print services (MPS), device data collection and document management for both dealers and users.
In October 2018, ECi Software Solutions acquired Office Document Consulting Inc. (ODC), a provider of sales automation software for the office equipment, managed print and IT channels. ECi Software Solutions Market Opportunities, M&A and Geo Expansions
In September 2021, ECI Software acquired Deacom, a provider of ERP software for batch and process manufacturers. Deacom, Inc. is the producer of DEACOM ERP, a comprehensive ERP platform that gives process manufacturers one core product that integrates all the modules they need to operate, including warehouse management, quality control, ecommerce and direct delivery. The company will join ECI’s Manufacturing Division , and will leverage it's software as its global platform to serve batch and process manufacturers going forward.
In May 2020, ECI has acquired BuildTools, a web-based construction management platform for custom builders and remodelers. Developed by a custom home builder frustrated with the solutions previously available on the market, the BuildTools platform is a business management system that meets the unique requirements of small volume custom home builders and their clients—from project management, scheduling, document storage and budget tracking, to customer service and management capabilities.
With this acquisition, ECI will reach a new customer market: smaller custom builders and home remodelers. To help accelerate BuildTools’ global growth, ECI plans on making investments in the platform’s development, go-to-market and customer success strategies.
