FastSpring Recent Developments
In June 2021, FastSpring published expansion plans in their global commerce platform to support B2B SaaS and downloadable software companies with sales teams. FastSpring’s B2B suite of tools includes a Digital Invoicing solution that allows software companies to quickly create and manage quotes, POs, and invoices and process recurring payments that satisfy B2B requirements.
In May 2020, FastSpring released an improved interface for the company’s platform. FastSpring conducted customer surveys and market research to understand the needs of software providers in the global eCommerce sector, the company said. These findings led to a series of upgrades, including a more contemporary look and feel, a vertical left-hand navigation bar for increased usability, improved product catalogue layout and navigation, more intuitive product configuration menus, and subscription pages to help sellers accomplish tasks faster.
FastSpring Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Activities
In November 2020, FastSpring acquired SalesRight, a Canadian SaaS startup that offers tools for business-to-business (B2B) sales teams.

FastSpring Market Opportunities, M&A and Geo Expansions
FastSpring is pinning its hope on SaaSy, which helps companies manage subscription-based transactions in the Cloud. SaaSy’s pricing is aggressive with free setup and no monthly fees. Transaction-based pricing is either 8.9% flat or 5.9% plus 95 cents per transaction. The SaaSy play is expected to allow FastSpring better compete with a whole host of payment processing vendors, in addition to upstarts like Zuora that sell into the so-called Subscription Economy where businesses and consumers can subscribe to all kinds of online services instead of physical encounters.
FastSpring is investment-backed by Accel-KKR, a leading technology-focused private equity firm. The partnership allows FastSpring to make continued investments in technology and go-to-market initiatives that better serve existing customers and drive continued growth and innovation in the digital commerce market.
FastSpring Risks and Challenges
FastSpring aims to challenge other eCommerce vendors with aggressive pricing from its SaaSy division, which eliminates setup and monthly fees in favour of a cut of the transaction. More pricing pressures from its competitors are in the offing.
