The Group is a network of technology companies for the credit, real-estate and insurance industries with a workforce of approx. 2,000 employees. It is grouped into four segments: Credit Platform, Private Clients, Real Estate Platform and Insurance Platform.
The Credit Platform segment operates Europace, which is an online B2B financial marketplace and the largest German platform offering mortgages, building finance products and personal loans. A fully integrated system links more than 700 partners – banks, insurers and financial product distributors. Several thousand loan brokerage advisors execute more than 30,000 transactions per month on Europace, generating a volume of more than €6 billion. Besides Europace, the FINMAS and GENOPACE sub-marketplaces and the B2B distribution companies Qualitypool and Starpool support the growth of the credit platform.
The Private Clients segment, made up of the web-based, non-captive financial product distributor Dr. Klein Privatkunden and the consumer comparison portal Vergleich.de, brings together all business models aimed at directly advising consumers on mortgages, insurance or pension products.
All real estate-related activities of the Hypoport Group, with the exception of mortgage finance, are grouped together in the Real Estate Platform segment (previously Institutional Clients) with the aim of digitalising the sale, valuation, financing and management of properties.
The Insurance Platform segment operates SMART INSUR, a web-based B2B platform for advice, comparison of tariffs and the administration of insurance policies. The segment also incorporates the insurance unit of Qualitypool, a B2B distribution company.
Hypoport SE Recent Developments
In June 2021, Hypoport SE and TeamBank AG established a joint venture to increase the efficiency of personal loans sales at cooperative banks. Each company will play to its particular strengths in the joint venture GENOFLEX. TeamBank has contractual relationships with 90 percent of all cooperative banks in Germany, giving it a broad sales network. Hypoport will be contributing its experience in the platform business.
Hypoport SE Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Activities
In March 2020, Qualitypool acquired 49.997 per cent of the shares in AMEXPool, a successful brokerage pool specialising in various types of non-life insurance for businesses and in motor vehicle insurance. Also in March 2020, Hypoport AG acquired 49 per cent of all shares in ePension GmbH & Co. KG, a developer of a portal solution for employers, employees, brokers and insurers which acts as a digital marketplace for the subsegment of occupational pension schemes.
In December 2019, Hypoport AG acquired all of the shares in empirica-systeme GmbH, a major data partner for the German property industry. In July 2019, Hypoport acquired REM CAPITAL AG, a management consultancy with c. 50 employees which has specialized on advising corporate clients on their funding structure in particular using public-sector development loans and subsidies.

In January 2017 Hypoport acquired all of the shares in Maklersoftware.com (provider of ASP and data centre solutions for the insurance and financial market) and Innosystems GmbH ( creates and sells comparison computers for insurance companies). By acquiring these two software companies, Hypoport AG is significantly bolstering its competitive position in the market. In addition to the efficient administration of insurance portfolios, the Hypoport Group can now offer market participants proven advisory software and a comprehensive price comparison tool for insurance products. the same year Hypoport AG acquired all of the shares in IWM Software AG (IWM solutions for the finance & insurance industry employs around 50 people and in 2016 generated revenue of more than €3 million. Its software products are used by more than 1,600 insurers and financial services companies and 20,000 end users) via its wholly-owned subsidiary Smart InsurTech GmbH. These acquisitions were combined to form the company Smart InsurTech AG, which forms the centre of the insurance platform segment that has been in existence since 2017.
