Speare Memorial Hospital was a longtime MEDITECH MAGIC customer, when they joined a group of healthcare organizations to share IT resources, which included moving to a different EHR. When the group disbanded, Speare Memorial Hospital set out to find a new platform to meet their guiding principles of integration (clinical and business operations), costs, ease of use, patient experience, quality outcomes, and data analytics. In March 2021, Speare Memorial Hospital returned to Meditech. By signing for MEDITECH as a Service (MaaS), Speare Memorial will now have full access to the Expanse EHR and the support of a familiar and trusted partner.
To accelerate healthcare organizations’ administration of the COVID-19 vaccine, MEDITECH is extending its capabilities to include a complimentary, short-form Quick Vaccination solution. The solution streamlines vaccine administration, enabling healthcare organizations to efficiently administer the vaccine to their patients from multiple care venues, including through tablet devices.
In February 2021, MEDITECH launched a Telemetry Appropriateness Toolkit in Expanse. It will help organizations to improve telemetry management through the indication-based ordering and timely removal of ECG monitoring. The decrease of inappropriate ordering, can reduce utilization costs, increase throughput, and enhance patient satisfaction.

Meditech’s ability to expand its Cloud applications strategy appears tentative at best given the large amounts of legacy assets that it has built for its long-time customers such as HCA.
