Pexip Strengths, Domain Expertise, and Key Differentiators
Pexip is a global technology company that delivers a video-first meeting platform. Their vision is to make virtual meetings even better than meeting in-person, by empowering people to see and engage with each other in a better way. Offering flexible deployment models; that means a cloud-native platform provided as a service or deployed as a self-hosted solution either on-premises or in any cloud environment, all built on Pexip’s proprietary Infinity technology.
Pexip Recent Developments
In September 2021, Pexip launched Direct Peering, a private connection between your company and the Pexip Service. With this users can participate in meetings on the service without traversing the public internet.
In January 2020, Pexip introduced Adaptive Composition, a new AI-powered technology designed to put people, not systems, at the heart of the meeting experience. With real-time face detection, auto-framing, and optimized use of screen real estate, Pexip’s meeting experience works with any camera-enabled device and empowers people to engage with each other in a better way.
Pexip Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Activities
In November 2021, - Pexip announced the acquisition of Skedify, a Belgium based Software-as-a-Service customer engagement solution.
In July 2020, Pexip and Videonor, have agreed that Pexip will take over the ownership and management of Videonor’s portfolio of enterprise customers. The agreement will ensure that the customers in question have access to a broader range of video conferencing services suited to enterprise needs. As the majority of these customers are in Norway, the agreement will provide additional revenue growth for Pexip, as well as an even greater market share in Norway.
The agreement stepped into force in July 2020 and the migration of customers is expected to take 6 - 12 months. Videonor’s compensation will be based on the amount of income and customer loyalty transferred to Pexip over the next two years.
Pexip is the result of a merger between Pexip and Videxio (founded in 2011), a cloud video service provider. The respective companies were started by a group of visionary industry veterans and were built on an ambition to break down communication barriers and provide a video-first meeting experience. Based on their extensive experience from video conferencing, the founders of the two companies had identified a need among users and IT, administrators, to remove the obstacles which were making enterprise video conferencing expensive, and difficult to use, manage and scale. The merger between the two companies was approved at the end of 2018 and came into force in January 2019. It presented a unique opportunity to address the enterprise segment with the consistent user experience across all deployment options, both self-hosted and as-a-service. Technology and workplace habits have come a long way in the years since the original companies were founded but the challenge of connecting devices and platforms remains.
