SPS Commerce, Inc. Risks and Challenges

SPS competes in a rapidly consolidating marketplace with GXS becoming a part of OpenText and IBM picking up more commerce software companies after buying Sterling Commerce. Its competitors, now backed by platform vendors, will be able to cross-sell and upsell additional products into their installed base perhaps shutting out SPS in the process.

A more pressing concern is whether SPS needs to expand into other countries by picking up eMarketplaces that could be used to offset any possible decline in its North American operations, which continue to represent 98% of its revenues over the past three years.
