TELUS Market Opportunities, M&A and Geo Expansions
In 2020, AFS and Exceedra joined the TELUS family in September 2020 as part of wider vision on the future of digitizing the consumer goods industry and the critical role technology will play in the full value chain. AFS Technologies will operate as part of a new division, TELUS Agriculture. TELUS Agriculture currently supports more than 100 million acres of agricultural land, backed by a team of more than 1,200 experts across Canada, the USA, Mexico, Brazil, the United Kingdom, Slovakia, Armenia, Germany, China, and Australia.
In April 2020, TELUS Health unveiled that it is enabling 26,000 Canadian family doctors to conduct virtual visits with their patients by seamlessly integrating this functionality into its electronic medical records (EMRs) offering. TELUS Health has accelerated the development of this virtual video functionality in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, now that physicians in Ontario and across the country can use virtual care fee codes. Offered as a free service for the first four months, this new feature allows physicians to virtually support their own roster of patients while maintaining continuity of care and fully up-to-date health records.
In May 2017, Telus HEALTH acquired Kroll Computer Systems., a complementary pharmacy management software company, to expand and enhance their geographic reach and offering as a national service provider.
In April 2017, TELUS Health and Université Laval joining forces to provide state-of-the-art comprehensive simulation teaching facilities to the university’s pharmacy faculty. Through an investment of more than $300,000 from TELUS Health, Laval pharmacy students will gain hands-on experience throughout their academic program, as well as an opportunity to operate leading edge technology: Ubik, TELUS Health’s next-generation pharmacy management platform.
