Vizient Market Opportunities, M&A and Geo Expansions
With health care spending in the U.S. now topping $3 trillion, it is more critical than ever for health care providers to have the ability to connect procedure, supply and clinical data for insights.
Procedural Analytics, the newest module in the Vizient Clinical Analytics platform, launched in May 2018, provides insight in near real-time and enables users to tie decisions around cost and utilization with their quality and outcomes.
In July 2020 Vizient released its July 2020 Drug Price Forecast projecting that health systems, including inpatient and non-acute environments, can expect a 3.29% increase for pharmaceutical purchases made from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2021. The increase will be driven by both the ongoing disruption caused by COVID-19 and enduring market trends unrelated to the virus.
Vizient Risks and Challenges
Vizient’ Revenue Cycle Management business is a hotly contested market with hundreds of software and services vendors and its sourcing operations are closely tied to how it complements some of the largest group purchasing organizations such as Novation and Premier.
Furthermore, MedAssets’ straddling both sides - boosting revenues while lowering costs for healthcare providers – could be a real test on how technologies can be implemented to accomplish both goals simultaneously in light of the massive changes under way in the healthcare industry following the adoption of the Affordable Care Act.
Vizient Ecosystem, Partners, Resellers and SI
In August 2021, E2open and Vizient entered into a strategic relationship to facilitate the rapid development of a cloud-based, multi-party collaboration platform that enables end-to-end visibility between participating healthcare providers, distributors and suppliers. The healthcare resiliency platform will be enabled by configuring E2open’s technology and network for the specific product flows that are unique to the healthcare industry. The healthcare resiliency platform will be available to Vizient’s membership, which includes acute care providers, academic medical centres and ambulatory care providers, as well as healthcare suppliers.
In August 2018, TPC made agreement with Vizient for comprehensive sourcing, performance improvement and cost management services, including strategic sourcing, utilization management, and clinical and operational consulting, as well as, service line, clinical and supply chain analytics.
