130 IFS

IFS Strengths, Domain Expertise, and Key Differentiators

IFS develops and delivers enterprise software for customers around the world who manufacture and distribute goods, build and maintain assets, and manage service-focused operations. EQT Partners acquired IFS AB in 2020.

The latest development at IFS came into focus in 2024 with its positioning as the vendor of choice for Industrial AI, the backbone of IFS Cloud's ERP, Asset Management (EAM) and Service Management (FSM and ITSM) solutions. AI in an industrial setting can be transformative and boundary-breaking for any business. IFS targets anyone running a manufacturing site, maintaining a fleet of aircraft, or is building facilities for tomorrow’s smart cities. IFS.ai is designed as the AI technology enabler that combines simulation, optimization and anomaly detection to drive the efficiency of people, assets, and workflows.

That follows a slew of corporate changes at IFS recently. In March 2022, PE firm Hg, became a minority investor in IFS. The investment valued IFS and WorkWave at $10 billion. It later spun off WorkWave to focus on ERP, Enterprise Asset Management and Industrial AI offerings.

More recently, it doubled down on EAM by buying Copperleaf for its asset lifecycle management solutions. The purchase is expected to add hundreds of customers and about $100 million in incremental revenues over the next 12 months, boosting IFS’ top line to more than $1.5 billion in 2025. IFS also bought EmpowerMX in July 2024 for its maintenance, repair and overhaul software for the aviation industry.

It expanded into the oil and gas industry by buying P2 Energy in 2022, adding more than 1,500 customers and more than $100 million in estimated sales.
