Planning Center Strengths, Domain Expertise, and Key Differentiators
Planning Center offers a comprehensive church management system that encompasses a suite of tools designed to enhance organizational efficiency. These tools facilitate processes such as donation processing, event coordination, volunteer scheduling, and child check-in. Additionally, the company provides a tailored mobile application enabling congregations to connect through group chat, access a digital directory, participate in live-streamed services, and engage with customized content. At the forefront of Planning Center's product lineup is Planning Center Services, a premier production tool tailored for volunteer scheduling, worship planning, and rehearsals.
Planning Center API always acts under the permission levels of the person who has connected it. For churches, that’s the person who generates the Developer Access Token. For App Teams, it’s the person (your user) who initiates the OAuth connection from your app into the Planning Center. This should probably be an organization administrator (a role that has wide permissions across the Planning Center) so that the app you’re building can do what it needs to do. If you plan to use the Giving part of our API, that person will need to be a Giving administrator as well.
Planning Center Recent Developments
In November 2022, the Planning Center successfully concluded a Service Organization Control (SOC 2) audit, meticulously assessing its systems, processes, and policies. This comprehensive evaluation aimed to validate the robust safety and security measures implemented to safeguard the data of its esteemed clientele. SOC 2 represents the pinnacle of information security standards, and the Planning Center stands out as the sole major church management system to attain full compliance.
This achievement instills confidence in churches, assuring them that the Planning Center is steadfast in its commitment to preserving the utmost confidentiality and security of highly sensitive data. This encompasses a spectrum of information, including but not limited to children's check-in locations, financial data, prayer requests, and other intricacies integral to the seamless functioning of church operations.
In July 2021, the Planning Center updated all of its eight products for the integration of cutting-edge technologies. The updates to all eight products signify a strategic move towards enhanced functionality, improved user experience, and alignment with the evolving needs of the digital landscape.
