Bluebeam Strengths, Domain Expertise, and Key Differentiators

Bluebeam Revu delivers innovative markup and collaboration technology. Revu is offering a customer-focused approach to product development. Bluebeam launched in 2002 and it's used by 2 million people throughout the world. Globally, Bluebeam rapidly expanding its presence, with an office in Sweden and customers in 130 countries. In 2014, Bluebeam joined Nemetschek, which allows them to connect with even more AEC professionals around the world.

Bluebeam Recent Developments

In November 2020, Bluebeam revealed the continuing expansion of their global Studio data infrastructure, providing customers faster and more secure access to their cloud-based projects while meeting strict local data residency requirements. Studio is a cloud-enabled collaborative space accessed from within Bluebeam Revu that allows project teams to mark-up documents and collaborate in real time from anywhere in the world, whether it be the jobsite, the trailer or – most recently – their homes. Bluebeam began expanding Studio’s global data infrastructure in August 2020 with a new Australian server joining the existing US and UK-based servers and plans to bring an additional server online in Germany in Q4 2020. Local Studio servers allow users to collaborate in real-time through Studio Sessions and manage documents in Studio Projects faster, while storing data locally and meeting local data storage laws and requirements.

In October 2019 Bluebeam introduced the newest version of Revu, their flagship project efficiency, and collaboration solution. Revu 2019 introduces features and tools specifically designed to boost productivity, improve measurement accuracy and streamline deployment across organizations. Revu 2019 enables smoother performance and faster panning and zooming of complex linework with a new hardware-accelerated rendering engine. Improved rendering speed, faster refresh and quicker initial load times allow users to pan and zoom through documents with greatly reduced latency. Revu 2019 is designed to deliver measurable improvements in speed that save valuable time no matter how large the project document set.

Bluebeam Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Activities

In June 2018 Bluebeam has acquired substantially all of the assets of privately held Project Atlas, LLC. Founded in 2017, Project Atlas created a digital mapping engine that uses geo-location instead of traditional folder structures to organize and visualize 2D plans and construction data.

With Project Atlas added to the portfolio of solutions, users gained an entirely new way to visually organize and unify location-based documents and data, bridging the gap between 3D models and 2D drawings.

This location-based orientation allows design and construction professionals to create and search a seamless digital map of their project that contains plans, people, material, site photos, and drone imagery, all within highly detailed, zoomable layers.
