Dematic, a KION Group Company Recent Developments
In March 2020, Dematic's parent company KION GROUP AG has completed the acquisition of Digital Applications International Limited (DAI), a UK-based software company specializing in logistics automation solutions, on its behalf. Valued at around €120 million, the transaction is KION’s largest investment since acquiring Dematic in 2016. The addition of DAI significantly expands Dematic’s intralogistics software offerings to support the movement, storage and distribution of goods through the entire supply chain. DAI’s core product is a warehouse management system (WMS) that broadens the capabilities of Dematic iQ automation by allowing a wider range of applications — from primarily manual operations to the fully automated supply chain ecosystems. The combined offerings will be especially attractive to new customers who desire a single software platform and after-market customers looking to add on to existing software.
In June 2018, Dematic optimizes made a new advancement in product distribution with the Dematic Roller Non-Contact Accumulation (RNCA) platform. The platform provides a variety of options for product takeoff from sortation systems — horizontal, decline, powered and gravity variants offer compact and controlled singulation.
In March 2017, Dematic announced the plans for integrating Egemin Automation into its organization. The integration, which is targeted for completion by the end of calendar year 2017, will result in the world’s largest Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) supplier while enhancing Dematic’s system integration capability in Europe. The resulting combination of technologies, talent and experience will provide customers enhanced warehouse automation and AGV solutions. Egemin Automation had been acquired by the KION Group in 2015.
