GEP Market Opportunities, M&A and Geo Expansions

GEP saw its business expand in every market in which it operates, but particularly in Europe, where revenues more than doubled in 2018. The year was also a watershed for GEP's cloud-based, unified source-to-pay procurement platform, GEP SMART, which saw its revenues increase more than 66%. GEP will be accelerating the verticalization of its solutions and delivery organizations to provide deeper, more industry-specific solutions, designed to address the distinct issues and harness the opportunities native to particular industries and segments.

Initially, GEP has rolled out six priority areas of industry focus, including Life Sciences & Pharma, Banking & Financial Services, Telecom & Technology, and Consumer Products & Retail; but Oil & Gas and Automotive & Industrial are first in focus and have already seen significant investment in the initial phases of a sustained development and business plan. GEP customers in the Oil & Gas sector include ExxonMobil, Chevron and Petronas, among other industry leaders. In the Automotive sector, customers include Honda, John Deere and Johnson Controls, among others. GEP is in discussions with more than 25 additional companies in various parts of the auto manufacturing ecosystem.

GEP Risks and Challenges

GEP is a company that is fairly risk-resilient given the agile and flexible nature of our business model. In technology, our cloud-native, code-agnostic approach means that as the industry evolves and new technologies emerge, we are well-placed to adopt and adapt without a legacy of inertia due to an installed base of on-premise systems, or an architecture that relies heavily on certain base technologies. For example, we have adopted and deployed entirely new database, search, UX and other technologies and infrastructural components in recent times without any service interruption or significant change management impacts to our clients. GEP’s managed service and consulting business is permanently on the leading edge of business practices and as the world changes, we are typically at the forefront of helping our customers adapt.

That said, all technology-centred companies should be aware that disruptors are possible and even inevitable and new developments and innovations can change the paradigm very rapidly. This perhaps represents the greatest risk to GEP’s business, aside from the existential risks that all companies face in times of global uncertainty and pandemic. During 2020, GEP has grown significantly despite the global challenges and this is due largely to our agility and focus on the needs of our customers. In these times, our customers need us perhaps more than ever. Nevertheless, continued stellar growth is not a certainty and GEP’s leadership are cautious and careful in correctly managing expansion and investment at this time. In short, risk to GEP’s business is not nil, but we are in good standing, remain profitable and in demand.
