Intershop Recent Developments

In September 2018 Intershop released Intershop Commerce Management 7.10 and Intershop Order Management 2.9.

New features in Intershop Commerce Management 7.10 are deeper integration of Google Tag Manager and support for Universal Analytics, import of product attribute groups, online/offline tagging of product variants, GDPR: management of customer requests to view and/or delete personal data in ICM.

Intershop Order Management (IOM) enables enterprise-wide processing of all orders received in the omnichannel commerce system. It tracks all order, payment, delivery, and returns processes, bringing together all order management data in a single centralized system.

In order to optimize marketing measures and focus customer interest on the most profitable products, it is necessary to analyze different customer segments and to know a range of KPIs of the shop. Using the integrated Google Tag Manager, marketers can easily generate these metrics by integrating tags—without having to manually edit code for the various interactive elements, such as clickable buttons or links.

Intershop Market Opportunities, M&A and Geo Expansions

Intershop launched a new cloud offering Intershop Commerce-as-a-Service (CaaS). The product launch marks an important strategic milestone in the commerce specialist's "cloud-first" strategy. The new offering also combines Intershop's leading e-commerce technology with one of the world's leading public cloud platforms, Microsoft Azure.

Strong cloud services growth expected: in Germany alone, from EUR 7.5 billion to more than EUR 10 billion in 2019. Few mounts later, Intershop opened up new growth opportunities for digital agencies with Commerce-as-a-Service. After introducing the CaaS offering, Intershop is taking the next step: the company is opening up the possibility for digital agencies to make the CaaS offering available to their customers, too.

Intershop has entered into a partnership with consulting and software company Capptoo focusing on digitization projects in Switzerland. The focus of the cooperation was Switzerland, which differs considerably from the e-commerce market. With the partnership, Intershop is opening up a flexible solution offering that takes into account the special conditions of the Swiss market.

In October 2018, the internationally active software and business consulting company ORBIS AG and Intershop Communications AG merge their expertise in digitization projects through a strategic partnership. This partnership aimed to combine the benefits of Microsoft Dynamics 365 in terms of 360-degree customer view and customer interaction, as well as Intershop's e-commerce solution in terms of personalization, proactive customer management, and cross-channel identification of customer preferences based on the latest data.

Intershop Risks and Challenges

The development of the Intershop Group during the reporting period was marked by the strategic transition from the license to the cloud business. In this regard, major progress has been made. Nonetheless, the cloud business results were not as high as originally expected. Its decision to expand its BPO offerings underscores its desire to operate within a hosting infrastructure that has served the vendor well.

Intershop Ecosystem, Partners, Resellers and SI

Intershop has offices in Hamburg, Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Nuremberg, San Francisco (U.S.), Melbourne (Australia), and Hong Kong (Asia) as well.

The company provides direct sales and sales through its partners. The partners develop custom software solutions, extensions, and standard interfaces to integrate the Intershop Commerce Suite into existing IT system landscapes.

Also, Intershop has more than 900 specialists across five continents, who are providing customers with creative solutions and industry-specific know-how during every stage of their commerce project from design and implementation to the development of omnichannel and digitization strategies. The company won several new partnerships in 2018.

In September Intershop strengthen its partnership with Microsoft to drive retail commerce transformation.

In October 2018, Intershop partnered with team neusta GmbH to sets standards for digital strategists. With the new partnership between team neusta and Intershop, the companies are supplementing their product portfolios. Three days later Intershop entered into a partnership with ORBIS. This partnership aims to combine the benefits of Microsoft Dynamics 365 in terms of 360-degree customer view and customer interaction, as well as Intershop's e-commerce solution in terms of personalization, proactive customer management, and cross-channel identification of customer preferences based on the latest data.
