LexisNexis, a RELX Company Recent Developments

In July 2021, LexisNexis Risk Solutions unveiled a new product LexisNexis Fraud Intelligence Synthetic Score, designed to help businesses mitigate synthetic identity fraud. Its new product analyzes hundreds of unique identity characteristics and events to help businesses identify inconsistencies and fraud patterns in application profiles. The tool utilizes data sets and high-powered analytics to examine application profiles associated with synthetic fraud to arrive at a three-digit numeric risk score ranging from 001 – 998.

In September 2020 LexisNexis Legal and Professional launched Lexis+, a feature-rich, premium legal solution. Lexis+ unites advanced research, practical guidance, brief analysis, and enhanced tools with a modern user experience to deliver data-driven insights, greater efficiency, and better outcomes.

Lexis+ users will appreciate the dramatic visual styling and simplified layout designed to set a new standard in ease of use. Striking imagery, bold colors, and typography improve readability, reduce visual “clutter” and emphasize essential information and tasks. The new Experience Dock creates an integrated starting point for core legal tasks and enables seamless switching between product experiences and workflows. New and intuitive features, such as Search Tree, Code Compare, and Shepard's At Risk, make it easy for practitioners to access the information and insights they need, control their search experience and provide better counsel. Altogether, Lexis+ delivers on the demand for legal solutions that look and work more like the modern technology products that attorneys use in their personal lives.

In 2018, LexisNexis enhanced Lexis Advance by incorporating advanced visualizations including 'Ravel View', a visualization enhanced by Shepard’s treatment insights that transform traditional case law search lists into a map of the most authoritative cases.

In 2018, LexisNexis also introduced Shepard’s Case Card, which visually displays key Shepard’s data such as the number of citing references, type of treatment, and most cited headnote for case law search results. LexisNexis also continues to expand the reach of its decision tools and analytics.

In 2018, LexisNexis launched Lexis Analytics, a suite of analytics tools that incorporates the capabilities of Lex Machina, Intelligize, and Ravel Law. In conjunction with the launch of Lexis Analytics, LexisNexis also launched Context, a legal language analytics solution that enables users to extract language deemed most persuasive by judges from court opinions, challenges, and motions. The legal analytics tool Lex Machina also extended its reach with the addition of four new modules in 2018, including Trade Secret and Insurance, taking the total number of practice areas covered to 13.

Lexis Practice Advisor rolled out an additional eight modules, including Antitrust, Data Privacy and Security, and Trusts and Estates, taking the total to 17 active modules. In the Intellectual Property analytics space, LexisNexis proprietary Patent Asset Index, created by PatentSight, is used by corporations worldwide to manage and value their intellectual property portfolios.

In 2018, LexisNexis also launched a State Law Comparison Tool on Lexis Practice Advisor, which covers four practice areas and 51 jurisdictions. The tool compares differences in the law across state jurisdictions and produces a cust.

LexisNexis, a RELX Company Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Activities

In August 2021, LexisNexis Risk Solutions acquired TruNarrative, which provides a cloud-based orchestration platform that detects and prevents financial crime and fraud. TruNarrative will become a part of the Business Services group of LexisNexis Risk Solutions.

In February 2021, LexisNexis Risk Solutions and Accuity merge-operations. Accuity is part of the LexisNexis Risk Solutions group of companies. Combined solutions further leverage and extend high-value data and analytic capabilities from both companies to provide comprehensive risk management and payments solutions. The combined organization will create one of the largest global providers of compliance risk solutions.

In March 2020 LexisNexis Risk Solutions, part of RELX acquired Emailage, the Arizona-based fraud prevention, and risk management solutions, provider. Emailage provides fraud risk scoring solutions based on email intelligence.

Founded in 2012, Emailage operates in the fraud and identity sector where customer needs are in constant flux due to digital commerce expansion across industries and geographies. Emailage’s fraud prevention solutions assess fraud risks by utilizing email address metadata, a differentiated global contributory network, and machine learning algorithms. Now part of the Business Services Group of LexisNexis Risk Solutions, Emailage will enhance the LexisNexis Digital Identity Network with its best-in-class email intelligence and contributory network. LexisNexis Risk Solutions and Emailage already have an established commercial partnership to offer the email risk assessment to customers around the world. This is a global acquisition for LexisNexis Risk Solutions – Emailage has established market presence in the U.S., Latin America, Europe, and the Asia Pacific.

In January 2020 LexisNexis Risk Solutions has agreed to purchase ID Analytics from NortonLifeLock for $375 million to enhance its credit and fraud risk assessment capabilities for enterprises. The Atlanta-based risk management business said its proposed acquisition of San Diego-based ID Analytics will help with the delivery of risk insight through a combination of proprietary data, patented analytics, and near-real-time cross-industry consumer identity behavior.

The transaction is expected to close in the first calendar quarter of 2020, and LexisNexis Risk Solutions declined to make Trainor or another executive available for comment. NortonLifeLock’s stock is up to $0.17 (0.64 percent) to $26.66 in trading Monday morning, while the stock for LexisNexis Risk Solutions parent company Relx is up to $0.03 (0.12) to $25.31 in early Monday trading.

ID Analytics was founded in 2002, employs 128 people, and raised $35.2 million in outside funding before being acquired by LifeLock in March 2012. LifeLock was in turn purchased by Symantec for $2.3 billion, and three years later the entire company was rebranded as NortonLifeLock following the $10.7 billion sales of Symantec’s Enterprise Security division to Broadcom.

LexisNexis acquired Lex Machina, creator of Legal Analytics, a technology platform that transforms how law firms and companies excel in the business and practice of law. Lex Machina delivers a Software as a Service platform that helps lawyers predict the behaviors and outcomes of different legal strategies by mining, tagging, categorizing, and enhancing millions of Federal court dockets and documents.

In April 2020 The Health Care business of LexisNexis Risk Solutions has launched a free COVID-19 Data Resource Center to provide county-level insights on at-risk populations and potential care capacity gaps to support the U.S. healthcare industry’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. By combining its own data and analytics with those of other industry stakeholders, the company created insights that can be used by healthcare organizations, public health officials, and health researchers to help allocate resources to the populations with the greatest need.
