Mitel Strengths, Domain Expertise, and Key Differentiators

Mitel Networks Corporation is a telecommunications company providing unified communications solutions for business. The company previously produced TDM PBX systems and applications, but after a change in ownership in 2001, it now focuses almost entirely on Voice-over-IP (VoIP) products.

Mitel is headquartered in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, with offices, partners, and resellers worldwide.

In July 2018, Mitel integrated with Google Cloud’s new Contact Center AI, a solution that combines multiple AI products to improve the customer service experience, as well as the productivity of contact centers. Contact Center AI is a simple, secure, and flexible solution that allows enterprises with limited machine learning expertise to deploy AI in their contact centers. The solution integrates with partners like Mitel that customers already work with for easy integration into their systems.

Mitel Recent Developments

In May 2020 Mital launched a wholesale enterprise communications and collaboration solution built on Google Cloud. MiCloud Flex on Google Cloud delivers optimal performance for mid-market and enterprise organizations and offers new revenue streams for the channel community.

MiCloud Flex is available on Google Cloud as a wholesale offering in the United States, the United Kingdom, and France. The solution provides mid-market and enterprise organizations greater choice in cloud models and ensures higher levels of performance and customization, while also offering Mitel channel partners more opportunities for growth. MiCloud Flex leverages Google Cloud’s secure infrastructure and a global network of high availability data centers to facilitate reliable, secure communications while also supporting the stringent compliance requirements of heavily regulated industries like healthcare, government, education, and finance.

In November 2018, Mitel and Searchlight Capital Partners completed the previously announced transaction in which affiliates of funds advised by Searchlight acquired all of the outstanding common shares of Mitel for US$11.15 per share in cash, without interest and less any applicable withholding taxes.

Mitel Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Activities

In September 2017, Mitel completed its acquisition of ShoreTel. With this addition, Mitel has accelerated its move-to-the-cloud strategy, shifting into the #2 market share position for UCaaS (Unified Communications as a Service) globally as customers worldwide look for cloud and cloud-capable solutions to digitally transform their businesses.
