NantHealth Strengths, Domain Expertise, and Key Differentiators

NantHealth, a member of the NantWorks ecosystem of companies, is a transformational healthcare IT company converging science and technology through a single integrated clinical platform. By converging molecular science, computer science, and big data technology the Nant Service-Oriented Operating System platform empowers physicians, patients, and payers to coordinate the best care, monitor outcomes, and control cost in real-time.

This is the first operating system of its kind in healthcare that is based on supply chain principles and grid service-oriented architecture and integrates the knowledge base with the delivery system and the payment system. On the other hand, NaviNet is America's leading Healthcare Collaboration Network.

NantHealth Recent Developments

In May 2021, NantHealth launched Eviti Connect for autoimmune diseases, aimed at helping payers and providers realize the quickest path to approving cost-effective, quality care for patients. Eviti Connect is a go-to resource in the oncology space and has helped providers find evidence-based care for more than 345,000 cancer patients while saving payers hundreds of millions of dollars. NantHealth expanded the use of its expertise, data, and resources to aid providers and payers in navigating the costs and treatment options of autoimmune diseases.

NantHealth, together with NantOmics in January 2020, launched an artificial intelligence platform for aiding pathologists in image-based lung cancer subtyping. This novel machine vision software platform accurately subtypes of lung cancer pathology and achieves high concordance with analysis performed by trained medical pathologists.

In June 2018, NantHealth launched two new products, Provider Initiated Document Exchange and Authorization Appeals on the nation's leading payer-provider collaboration platform and NaviNet Open. The exchange of information between health plans and providers is a slow, manual, and tedious process that still relies on paperwork sent via fax and mail.

NaviNet Open Document Exchange automates the exchange of administrative and clinical information in real-time between health plans and providers. This allows health plans to send documents to provider offices and request a response if desired. This facilitates a wide range of use cases, such as sharing risk adjustment information, quality measurement data, performance reports, and closing care gaps workflows that have a major impact on a health plan's business.

NantHealth Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Activities

In July 2020, NantHealth acquired OpenNMS Group, an open-source network management company. OpenNMS provides a highly reliable, scalable, and comprehensive fault, performance, and traffic monitoring solution that easily integrates with business applications and workflows to monitor and visualize everything in a network.

NantHealth Market Opportunities, M&A and Geo Expansions

In July 2020, NantHealth acquired OpenNMS Group, an open-source network management company. OpenNMS provides a highly reliable, scalable, and comprehensive fault, performance, and traffic monitoring solution that easily integrates with business applications and workflows to monitor and visualize everything in a network.

The NaviNet acquisition scaled NantHealth's cloud-based platform of services to deliver interoperability, connectivity, real-time decision support, and a single sign-on operating system to over 450,000 active provider users and all-payer access to 450+ commercial and government plans nationally, covering almost 100 million lives and over 30 million monthly transactions. NaviNet Open serves as a nationwide scalable, real-time access point and secure web-based portal for patients and providers to receive breaking news about novel clinical agents and to access active cancer clinical trials locally.

NantHealth Risks and Challenges

NantHealth's revenue is dependent on several customers. In 2019, more than 30% of the company's revenue was accounted for three customers. The loss of one such customer can largely affect the company's business.

NantHealth is an early commercial-stage company with a business model based upon a novel approach to healthcare.

NantHealth solutions are designed to address many of the key challenges healthcare constituents face by enabling them to acquire and store genomic and proteomic data, combine diagnostic inputs with phenotypic and cost data, analyze data sets, securely deliver that data to providers in a clinical setting to aid selection of the appropriate treatments, monitor patient biometric data and progression on a real-time basis, and demonstrate improved patient outcomes and costs.

Integration across their systems infrastructure and platforms may take longer than they expect, or may never occur at all.

NantHealth Ecosystem, Partners, Resellers and SI

In October 2021, NantHealth partnered with Care Continuity, a leader in network integrity and care navigation across the care continuum. They partnered to improve the management of care logistics for complex, high-risk, and chronic diseases. The care pathways enabled by this collaboration will support clinicians, patients, and their families across health networks, and help to ensure patients receive equal, high-quality access to treatment. The initial focus is the extension of cancer pathways through Eviti Connect, then adding other high-risk and chronic care pathways through NantHealth’s NaviNet payer/provider collaboration platform.

In September 2021, NantHealth partnered with Intraprise Health, the provider of HIPAA One Security and Privacy Compliance software. HIPAA One’s Security Risk Assessment software will be available to the growing network of healthcare provider offices utilizing NantHealth’s NaviNet solution, offering a comprehensive solution to manage HIPAA compliance requirements.

In January 2021, NantHealth partnered with Sesame, a direct-to-patient healthcare platform offering affordable prices for in-person and virtual care. The program gives providers the tools needed to offer patients direct access to affordable, high-quality care while increasing practice revenue up to 25% per patient visit by reducing administrative costs. With just under half of the adult U.S. population uninsured or underinsured, Sesame and NantHealth are working together to educate providers on direct-to-patient and virtual care, enabling them to scale their practices faster.

NantHealth does mostly direct sales, but it also leverages strategic reseller arrangements and channel relationships.

In the United States NantHealth has entered into strategic resale arrangements with major partners, including EHR vendors (including Allscripts), in-hospital medical devices manufacturers, and health plans who resell the company's solutions to their customer base. Internationally, NantHealth has entered into resale arrangements with major telecommunications companies and systems integrators to accelerate its market adoption.
