Rootstock Recent Developments

Rootstock recently released: “Clicks Not Code, Business Driven ERP”. Rootstock’s product is now taking full advantage of Salesforce Lightning, which allows business users to take more control of the user experience and processes without the need for technical help or highly specialized consultants. This capability includes the ability to customize Rootstock mobile apps, add Predictive Analytics to any page/screen and add Einstein Artificial Intelligence to workflows, apps and pages. Rootstock’s goal with this release is to democratize ERP and bring more ERP functions, and intelligence to more job functions in an organization. This business-driven approach speeds the implementation, makes a company more agile and allows companies to continually improve their use of Rootstock Cloud ERP.

Rootstock Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Activities

In January 2018, Rootstock, a cloud supply chain and manufacturing vendor built on Salesforce's platform, acquired Kenandy, which focuses on enterprise relationship management applications. Kenandy, will add more developers to help Rootstock combine its applications with Salesforce's various clouds. Kenandy also builds cloud applications built on the Salesforce platform and in some ways takes out a Rootstock rival. Unlike traditional ERP systems, Kenandy provides an end-to-end cloud ERP in 150 Business Ready Objects, not thousands of tables.

With nearly 120 employees and over 160 customers, Rootstock is positioned as a cloud ERP software provider for the midsize market. It will become an increasingly formidable competitor of NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, Sage, Infor, Epicor, and other market incumbents.

Rootstock customers have their own unique business requirements from a wide variety of industries. Among them are: Scott Fetzer Electrical Group (SFEG), Primus Power, 3 Sigma Corporation, Blue Cover Devices, Big Heart Pet Brands, Fluidic Energy, Merrow Sewing Machine Company, Natural Balance Pet Foods, SPOC Automation, and Yokohama Tire Company.

In the first half of the 2019 Rootstock Software continued its customer growth with the addition of six new cloud ERP customers: Accedian Networks, Architectural Fabrication, Petro Valve, Portland Roasting Coffee, Tejas Production Services and Vitamin Angels select Rootstock Cloud ERP.

In October 2019, Aphria Inc.completed the implementation of Rootstock Cloud ERP solution. Aphria simultaneously implemented ComplianceQuest's Enterprise Quality Management System (EQMS) to support quality management processes in the highly regulated cannabis industry.

In Mart 2021, Rootstock announced its first channel partner in the Middle East with the addition of XITRICON. Xitricon is based in Dubai and provides the planning, configuration, and implementation of enterprise solutions. The company operates across the Gulf region in Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates and has a resource centre in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Rootstock's purchase of Kenandy will enable the company to expand into more areas for enterprises looking to launch cloud ERP built on Salesforce's technology.

Rootstock's continued expansion into the international market, but also continued co-marketing with Salesforce to penetrate the ERP market.

Rootstock Risks and Challenges

Salesforce's desire to expand in the manufacturing vertical, or ERP market for that matter, has been a work in progress. The combination of Rootstock and Kenandy appears to heighten Salesforce's desire to make it work through economy of scale. However it has never been easy partnering with Salesforce and its ever-changing priorities now pivoting to its newly acquired platform products like Mulesoft and Tableau.

Rootstock's expansion into white space markets like cannabis manufacturing is a logical step given the greater propensity of these companies to invest heavily in automation to accelerate its time to market. The risk is that its also a moving target because of inconsistent rules and regulations regarding the legal status of cannabis products across state lines and even at the federal level.
