Verizon Connect Recent Developments
In September 2019, Verizon Connect has introduced a new immobilization tool for its Verizon Connect Reveal, helping fleets prevent unauthorized use of vehicles and aid in the recovery of stolen vehicles. The tool works with the Verizon Connect Reveal platform and enables fleet managers to remotely disable a vehicle’s ignition once the vehicle’s engine has been shut off, effectively stopping vehicle misuse in near real-time. The tool can be accessed from the Reveal Vehicle page where users can locate and choose which vehicles to immobilize and view immobilization history and is compatible with most CalAmp hardware. In August 2019, Verizon Connect has launched a dispatch solution for field service fleets that integrates with its Reveal cloud-based telematics platform, the company announced. Field Service Dispatch brings vehicle location data together with technician status updates to help fleet managers improve dispatching and scheduling. Features include simplified scheduling, easy dispatching, real-time notifications, a mobile app for technicians, and live map integration. With the scheduling feature, fleet managers can view available technicians and vehicle locations to schedule jobs in a calendar view. A dispatching feature enables notifications to technicians that a job has been scheduled. Real-time notifications allow customers to receive booking confirmations and reminders. In August 2019 Verizon Connect has introduced Immobilisation for Verizon Connect Reveal, a tool developed for customers who want to help prevent unauthorized use of vehicles and aid in the recovery of stolen vehicles. The new platform works alongside the Verizon Connect Reveal system and can enable fleet managers to disable a vehicle’s ignition once the engine has been turned off. Immobilization should offer another level of protection to fleet operators and the array of existing fleet management safety options that are already on offer. The software, at this moment in time, can be used on most vehicles except for electric or hybrid vehicles and assets, such as generators. A relay is attached to the starter and Vehicle Tracking Unit (VTU), and the VTU controls whether the starter can power or not. In July 2019, Verizon Connect launched the Navigation Mobile App for Verizon Connect Reveal. The app works with the Verizon Connect Reveal platform to give drivers directions based on their vehicle and load types to reduce miles driven and improve safety. The company expects the new app will have a positive impact on fleet and driver efficiency. In June 2019 Verizon Connect has introduced Verizon Connect Fleet for Government, a platform with features that can help federal, state, and local agencies run safer fleets, gain greater insight into operations and fleet maintenance, and better communicate with workers and first responders in the field. Verizon Connect Fleet for Government is designed to meet the specific workforce management needs of government customers, including vehicle inspection automation, asset visibility and management, and tools designed to simplify and streamline processes. In July 2018, Verizon Connect unveiled Work Mobile, an app that enables people to work offline and still receive job details, share notes, photos and signatures from the field to help increase speed and performance. Verizon Connect Work Mobile helps keep people in the field connected with the back office so that customers can act immediately and increase overall productivity. With near real-time job updates, administrators are able to see job status and communicate schedule changes, helping improve visibility and communication.
