In October 2019, HireVue has added new game-based assessments that measure job-related emotional intelligence to its suite of validated game-based assessments. E-Motions, TeamChat, LeaderChat and Pulse together measure empathy, influence and impulsivity. These new assessments provide hiring managers with research-backed insights into social abilities that are directly related to employability, job performance, and leadership, improving their ability to hire the best talent for the job.
HireVue’s emotional intelligence games are already being successfully used by one of the UK’s largest retail employers for graduate and apprentice hiring. To date, over 9,000 candidates have completed TeamChat and E-Motions, as well as two games measuring cognitive ability. With short completion times, a validated assessment of both cognitive and emotional abilities can be achieved in a single, engaging testing session.
HireVue Mergers and acquisitions (M&A) Activities
In May 2018, HireVue acquired London-based MindX, a game-based assessments company. MindX's game-based assessments deliver proven solutions to accelerate the hiring process and rapidly identify cognitive traits in job candidates. HireVue Market Opportunities, M&A and Geo Expansions
HireVue completed a major investment from The Carlyle Group’s. Existing shareholders, including Granite Ventures, Sequoia, and TCV, together with HireVue management, remain minority investors.
Equity capital for the investment came from Carlyle Partners VII, an $18.5 billion fund that makes majority and strategic minority investments primarily in the U.S. in targeted industries, including in technology, media, and telecommunications (TMT) companies. TMT is a core area of focus for Carlyle, representing more than $30 billion of invested equity since inception.
HireVue expanded its operations in Asia Pacific and Europe, following a slew of acquisitions to shore up its offerings. Furthermore in October 2018, launched AI-Driven Pre-Built Assessments to its market-leading HireVue Assessments platform. HireVue Pre-Built Assessments models are designed to measure specific cognitive abilities and job-related competencies for particular job types. The first Pre-Built Assessments to be released include three cognitive skills tests and four job-specific assessments: Call Center Service Representative; Sales Representative; Retail Associate; Software Developer.
In March 2018, HireVue launched localized Japanese Version of AI-driven HireVue Assessments product that bases its predictive, pre-employment assessments on Japanese data for modeling. Built-in partnership with TalentA, the premier HR software distribution company in Japan, the product is fully customizable for the positions for which each customer is recruiting. Additionally, HireVue uses AI to analyze word choice, tone, and facial movement of job applicants who does video interviews. The company has raised $95 million and works with companies like Unilever and Goldman Sachs.
HireVue Risks and Challenges
HireVue is aiming to sustain its growth by acquiring complementary applications to its video interviewing products. Integrating them in the Cloud to deliver seamless user experience will be its next challenge.
