In April 2021, Deskera and Wise team up to make international payments faster, easier and cheaper for small businesses. Deskera Market Opportunities, M&A and Geo Expansions
Though often overlooked, small businesses form the backbone of every economy around the world accounting for 90 percent of businesses and up to 70 percent of global employment. Deskera aims to equip these small businesses with the technology and tools they need to manage their business no matter where they are in the world, especially as they look to scale in a global and connected economy.
In November 2018, Deskera raised over US$60 million from a host of investors, including Jungle Ventures, Cisco Investments, Tembusu Partners, Susquehanna International Group and Innoven Capital. The funding will be used for research and development as well as better integration of its enterprise resource planning (ERP) system onto the Networked Trade Platform (NTP). The NTP is Singapore's new one-stop digital trade platform serving as a single-window for all customs and trade-related services. Deskera also aims to add more innovative solutions to its portfolio and continue its expansion into the US, Indonesia, Australia, and the Philippines. Deskera drew in S$42 million in revenue in the financial year 2016. The firm crossed its S$100 million target in FY2017, which was a hugely successful year due to huge growth in India and South-east Asia.

COVID-19 shutdowns have hammered the viability of small and mid-sized enterprises (SMEs). Almost 80% of SMEs report that they are doing worse since COVID-19 hit. Smaller businesses fared worse overall as well as businesses dependent on in-person, physical locations. It's an open question if SMEs in SE Asia are willing and able to spend on tech in the near future.
