NEOGOV Recent Developments
In October 2020 NEOGOV launched NEOED, a SaaS solution specifically for the unique needs of education customers, including colleges and universities, community colleges, and K-12 organizations. NEOGOV serves over 2,000 public agencies and educational institutions across the United States and Canada. The launch of the NEOED brand was born out of a desire to put even more focus on the needs of education HR. The end result includes new product and feature enhancements based on research and input received from education HR leaders to understand the pain points specifically impacting education.
Some of the enhancements made to products for the education audience include unique career site experiences for all employee types (staff, faculty, student workers, etc.), improved tools for diversity and inclusion initiatives like rating matrices and automated blinding of personally identifiable information, flexible and dynamic performance tracking (such as 360 feedback review capabilities), education-specific learning courses, and digital form routing for candidate references, faculty contract renewals, and more. NEOED’s SaaS workforce management platform is made up of three modules -- Recruit, Develop, Manage -- that cover the entire employee lifecycle. The benefits include faster time-to-hire and streamlined onboarding, improved performance management processes, and reduced overtime and administrative costs. Existing customers will receive the enhancements at no additional cost, and all education customers present and future will see a rebranded user experience inside the product under the NEOED name in early 2021.
NEOGOV Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Activities
In December 2020 NEOGOV merged with PowerDMS, a leader in cloud-based compliance software that helps customers simplify how they create, track, and attest to policies, training, and industry standards. The merger will expand NEOGOV’s product offerings and further demonstrate its commitment to streamlining the complex processes needed to support the public sector workforce. NEOGOV’s full-suite human capital management solution enables recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, payroll, benefits, and time and attendance processes specific to public sector and higher education organizations. PowerDMS’ products strategically complement NEOGOV’s platform and capabilities, setting it up for the next chapter of the company’s growth. The merger will help customers solve complex human resource and compliance challenges under one roof by unifying best-in-class human resource tools and document management in an age of increased pressure for additional accountability and transparency. The merger is subject to regulatory approval. The combined businesses will be operated by NEOGOV, which is headquartered in El Segundo, CA. Shane Evangelist will be the CEO of the combined company.

In June 2021 NEOGOV received an investment from The Carlyle Group, a global investment firm, and existing investor Warburg Pincus, a leading global growth investor. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The new investment from The Carlyle Group and Warburg Pincus will allow NEOGOV to capitalize on a number of compelling organic and inorganic growth opportunities, including investing in NEOGOV’s operations and go-to-market teams, continuing to expand the company’s product suite for current customers, and entering adjacent end markets. Over 2,000 government agencies and educational institutions using Insight, NEOGOV’s applicant tracking solution, will now have the option of leveraging Spark Hire’s interviewing software without leaving the NEOGOV platform. Designed to help organizations make better hire decisions more quickly, Spark Hire provides recruiters with tools that deliver candidate insights earlier in the process. Spark Hire’s mission is twofold: to give organizations a hiring advantage, and to be the best company its customers ever do business with.
