Pluralsight Market Opportunities, M&A and Geo Expansions

Pluralsight plans to expand its footprint and operations in Australia to accelerate growth and provide a stepping stone for further expansion in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. To support its investment in Australia and the region, Pluralsight has appointed Mike Featherstone as Managing Director of ANZ/APAC. Pluralsight plans to more than double the existing team in Australia over the next three years, hiring over 50 new team members across a variety of roles, including sales, customer support, marketing, and operations. In addition, the company has signed a lease on new office space in Australia Square in the heart of Sydney’s central business district. With these investments, Pluralsight will bring over $30 million to Australia’s economy over the next three years.

Pluralsight acquired Adobe-centric video training company Train Simple. With this acquisition, Pluralsight’s technology learning platform becomes a leading provider of Adobe training online, offering more than 1,200 courses covering the entire Adobe Creative Cloud suite as well as other Adobe flagship technologies.

This marks Pluralsight’s second expansion into the creative training market, following the company's 2014 purchase of Digital-Tutors. In the first half of 2018, Pluralsight opened a new EMEA headquarters in Dublin, Ireland. This new office represents a significant investment in the region, and they plan to hire 150 people across a variety of roles over the next few years.

Pluralsight Risks and Challenges

In 2021, Pluralsight announced the appointment of Mark Miller as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). As CFO, Mark will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of Pluralsight’s financial team in support of the company’s growth.

Expanding a content library is a challenge. The same applies to fend off the ubiquity of Youtube and Lynda from LinkedIn. The issue is whether users are better off with courseware or do-it-yourself microlearning development tools.
