Epicor Bolsters Modern Industrial ERP for European Manufacturers
Epicor Bolsters Modern Industrial ERP for European Manufacturers

With growing momentum in the manufacturing vertical in Europe, Epicor is speeding up its Cloud assembly line for asset-intensive customers to quickly switch on the latest Industrial ERP applications in order to better address a host of IT security, supply chain and compliance challenges.

Its recent Epicor Insights Europe 2025 event held in the UK city of Birmingham (also known as the workshop of the world for its storied history in manufacturing) attracted more than 500 executives from all sorts of makers of soft and hard goods in Europe, as the software vendor sought to galvanize their continued support with a carrot and stick approach as much as a good dose of innovation.

The focus of the two-day event was squarely on Epicor Kinetic Cloud, enhanced with embedded analytics, AI agents, and Environment Social and Governance (ESG) reporting tools—demonstrating Epicor’s commitment to delivering intelligent, industry-specific solutions that address evolving manufacturing challenges.

Andy Coussins, Head of International Sales at Epicor, highlighted Epicor’s double-digit growth in the EMEA region, attributing success to a disciplined shift toward cloud adoption, rapid AI innovation, and the popular “Ascend with Epicor” free migration program that has helped hundreds of on-premises customers transition smoothly to Kinetic Cloud.

Security was another recurring theme, underscored by recent cyberattacks like the BlackSuit ransomware on CDK ($1B+ damages) and the Clorox data breach ($356M impact). Epicor’s Chief Customer & Information Officer Rich Murr emphasized the urgency of adopting a multi-layered cloud security framework to protect data, ensure compliance, and maintain business continuity. Customers were strongly encouraged to accelerate migration from vulnerable legacy and on-premises systems to Epicor’s state of the art cloud infrastructure with advanced monitoring.

Tim Shoemaker, Distinguished Product Manager of Epicor, disclosed that support for the Smart Client will officially end by May 2026, leaving long-time Epicor users with no choice but to upgrade the modern, browser-based user experience. To make the switch easier, Epicor is offering its “Ascend with Epicor” migration program, which provides automated tools, expert-led services, and hands-on training through the new Epicor Learning Center and the Epicor Connected Worker (formerly ACADIA) workforce agility platform.

Furthermore, Shoemaker introduced new features like urgent-MRP planning and the patent-pending Carbon Cost Rollup, which treats CO₂ emissions as a cost line in the bill of materials. This lets manufacturers manage emissions with the same precision as financial data—helping them meet EU sustainability mandates and embed ESG into operational workflows.

Another carrot in front of customers is a promise of actionable intelligence upon their upgrade. Kerrie Jordan, Group Vice President of Product Management at Epicor, summarizes automation thusly: “AI is only as good as the data that fuels it.” That’s why data integrity, process standardization, and cloud readiness remain top priorities for Epicor’s innovation roadmap.

Epicor is not only the digital backbone of manufacturers but also their strategic partner in achieving optimized data quality and reporting as the perfect tool to mitigate near-term risks. At the heart of this transformation is Epicor’s Prism generative AI layer, embedded within Kinetic. Prism leverages natural-language assistants and task-specific AI agents to automate complex workflows—scanning emails, generating purchase orders, flagging material shortages, and providing real-time inventory or emissions insights. What once took hours now takes seconds, giving manufacturers a critical competitive edge.

For European customers, Prism employs retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) to securely blend large language model intelligence (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic) with private ERP data, delivering personalized, context-aware responses.

Complementing Prism, Epicor Grow offers a no-code BI and analytics platform, now hosted in AWS UK. Built on a flexible data lake, Grow empowers production, sales, and supply chain teams with unified real-time dashboards and predictive AI-powered analytics—without reliance on IT teams. With over 150 prebuilt connectors, Grow simplifies cross-functional data analysis, and early user feedback is already influencing future innovations like Automation Studio and FP&A modules.

Epicor continues to help manufacturers navigate supply chain volatility, material shortages, and tariff fluctuations. Kinetic’s supply chain visibility combined with Prism’s predictive AI empowers companies to anticipate disruptions and act faster. Epicor’s dual deployment model—cloud or on-premises—remains a key differentiator in the manufacturing ERP space.

Since its 2020 acquisition by CD&R, Epicor has expanded to serve more than 23,000 organizations across 150 countries, with 2.3 million users. Growth has been driven by both organic expansion and 14 strategic acquisitions, including: Epicor IP&O for AI-driven inventory planning and optimization; KYKLO for product information management and content syndication and Acadia Software for connected worker solutions on the shop floor. These additions have bolstered Epicor’s industry expertise and strengthened Kinetic’s appeal across manufacturing, distribution, and asset-intensive sectors.

In 2024, Epicor reported revenue growth of 12 percent, bringing annual recurring revenue to $1.2 billion, up 13 percent year-over-year, with SaaS now contributing 49 percent of ARR—a 33 percent surge—and net retention holding at 108 percent. These figures not only underscore the health of Epicor’s subscription business but also reflect the success of cross-sell and upsell initiatives around Epicor Kinetic Cloud deployments globally.
