Oracle NetSuite’s Generative AI strategy is beginning to take shape just as many of its customers are clamoring for next-generation digital assistants and agents to help make them more productive.
Reiterating its innovative streak, Evan Goldberg, executive vice president of NetSuite, proffers his vision at the recent SuiteConnect event in New York by focusing on these basic tenets when building out Gen AI features across the NetSuite product portfolio that they have to be cost effective, immersive and usable for NetSuite customers.
Goldberg said all of its engineers are incorporating machine learning, large language model and AI shortcuts like conversational assistants into every piece of software that NetSuite is selling as embedded features that require no additional expenses for its customers to leverage.
“We are not going to disentangle ourselves from this smart NetSuite and their use of NetSuite will be radically different over the next few years,’’ he added, reinforcing the Oracle’s philosophy that such AI enhancements will become the most cost effective way to help companies automate given its penchant for optimizing the economy of scale through its own Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, autonomous database and a rich collection of enterprise applications.
Still, NetSuite’s Gen AI strategy will be distinct and independent from that of Oracle because of the time-sensitive nature of its SMB customers often seeking for quick hits to drive their rapid growth, said Brian Chess, senior vice president of Technology & AI at NetSuite.
During the one-day event, Chess showcased what NetSuite Expert for SuiteAnswers and SuiteAnalytics Assistant are all about – the next generation of integrated AI enhancements to recommend actions in natural language while delivering actionable insights.
Other easy to use AI tools from NetSuite include NetSuite Text Enhance to populate custom fields with precision, Prompt Management API for add-on extensibility from its partners and third party apps, and a Configuration Pricing Quote(CPQ) assistant that facilitates quick configuration of products and services and makes recommendations in natural language.
NetSuite customer Soluna is a case in point on how speed and usability are favored over process control and templated procedures. Jessica Thomas, chief accounting officer of the 44-person data center startup that thrives on growth through renewable energy-dependent computing, remarked upon how easy it was for the upstate New York company to migrate to NetSuite in 2024, her ninth ERP implementation on behalf of different companies over the past decade.
Embracing AI with gusto, Thomas said her 2025 mantra is to start incorporating AI features such as AP/AR automation from NetSuite and its partners into its day-to-day work. By starting with controlled experimentation, Thomas said her team is focused on finding ways AI can help improve efficiencies and create measurable impact. The bottom line remains “we want to work smarter, not harder,’’ Thomas added.
Sojo Industries is equally sanguine about AI. Already relying heavily on advanced analytics tools like NetSuite Analytics Data Warehouse, the Bristol, PA, contract food manufacturer has formed a committee with such tasks as establishing guardrails for extensive use of AI across its HR, legal and finance operations, having already evaluated any further use of robots for production, while monitoring the use of AI tools among its development engineers to measure their output.
Sojo CTO Josh Schwartz-Dodek applauded the moves by NetSuite to embed many of these AI features into its applications, accelerating its goal of transforming the food and beverage industry by being one of the first movers to take advantage of end to end automation. “Complex systems integration is behind us,’’ he added.
To that end, NetSuite is investing heavily in interoperability with other commonly used solutions including a Microsoft Outlook connector as well as integration into Digital Business Network Alliance to ensure smooth handling of business documents like eInvoices while running NetSuite to better connect with customers and partners.
