In 2021, FrieslandCampina implemented Kyriba Treasury as its Treasury Management platform. The deployment followed a cloud-first Treasury IT strategy and was guided by Zanders, with the new Kyriba Treasury replacing ION IT2 Treasury and the implementation work carried out by FrieslandCampina with support from Zanders and Kyriba.
The Kyriba Treasury rollout focused on central cash management, intercompany netting workflows and payments orchestration. FrieslandCampina configured Kyriba Treasury to centralize cash visibility and day-to-day cash management, and established a dedicated treasury operations team including a cash and currency manager, a treasury systems manager and a treasury project manager. Corporate treasury selected Coprocess as the global netting tool for matching, dispute resolution and monthly netting of around one million intercompany invoices a year, and used TIS as the payment hub to standardize payments and collections and to enable future POBO and COBO models.
Operational integration tied the Kyriba Treasury deployment into the wider Summit program to standardize SAP instances and into newly formed financial shared service centers, creating a continuous intercompany reconciliation process rather than month-end matching. A treasury system manager role was instituted to connect SAP and FSSC feeds, TIS payment flows and the Coprocess netting output into Kyriba Treasury, supporting hundreds of legal entities across FrieslandCampinas network of branch offices in 34 countries.
Governance and rollout were structured under Project Everest, with a Zanders-drafted blueprint, cross-functional workshops involving finance and reporting, tax, corporate legal and back-office teams, and a dedicated project manager driving adoption. The implementation favored cloud delivery to reduce internal IT dependency and keep the treasury application current, centralized cash and continuous netting reduced manual reconciliation, and the organization reported easier day-to-day cash management and cost-saving potential related to in-house bank structures. Kyriba Treasury and FrieslandCampinas cooperative treasury model were recognized through a EuroFinance digital transformation nomination, reflecting strengthened mutual dependency between business units and corporate treasury for in-house balances.
