| Microsoft | Legacy | Microsoft Dynamics NAV | ERP Financial | ERP | n/a | 2015 | 2015 |
In 2015, Mecca implemented Microsoft Dynamics NAV as its ERP Financial application. Microsoft Dynamics NAV was used to centralize accounting workflows that supported end to end fortnightly payroll processing for 4000+ employees across Australia and New Zealand retail stores, the distribution centre, and the support centre, managed by a payroll team of two officers.
The implementation emphasized financial modules common to ERP Financial systems, including the general ledger, automated payroll journal posting, accrual accounting for monthly wages, annual and long service leave, payroll tax, WorkCover accruals, and superannuation liabilities. Microsoft Dynamics NAV was configured to calculate and post monthly wage journals, prepare balance sheet reconciliations, generate upload files for external allowance providers, and support preparation of sample documentation and supporting calculations for year end audit and payroll year rollover.
Dynamics NAV was integrated into a broader payroll and retail technology stack, with explicit interfaces to HR3 for payroll operations, Timeteq and Riteq for time and attendance feeds, and Retail Pro for sales data used in monthly and yearly retail bonus calculations. The payroll process included statutory interactions with external agencies and providers, including submission of Single Touch Payroll and NZ Payday Filing through coordination with HR3, and routine liaison with the ATO, the IRD, WorkCover providers, and the default superfund.
Governance and operational controls were formalized to support monthly balance sheet reconciliations, on-boarding and off-boarding across payroll, time and attendance, and POS systems, and configuration changes for award updates in time and attendance. The team also handled WorkCover claims management, submission of actual and estimated wages to insurers, and representation in the employer super committee. Explicit achievements tied to these implementations include successful execution of STP and NZ Payday Filing, supporting a subsequent HRIS rollout to Workday for all employees, a review and provider change for WorkCover aligned to company needs, and an internal payroll operations satisfaction improvement from 73% to 92%.

| Workday | Legacy | Workday Absence Management | Absence and Leave Management | HCM | n/a | 2017 | 2018 |
In 2017, Mecca implemented Workday Absence Management as part of a phased human capital management program to digitalize HR and simplify team member self service. The retailer launched a three to five year program in 2017 to remove paper based processes and enable a digital onboarding experience for new hires.
The HCM makeover began with the deployment of Workday HCM Core, Recruitment, Onboarding, Absence and Compensation, with Workday Absence Management configured to centralize leave types, absence requests, approval routing and operational reporting. Workday Absence Management, an Absence and Leave Management application, was embedded in the digital onboarding flow so team members could self serve leave requests without paper forms.
Operational coverage included HR, talent acquisition, people analytics and store operations across Mecca's Australian retail network, enabling HR to manage rapid staffing changes and redeploy team members as business needs shifted. The implementation provided a single source of truth for absence data and supported scenarios such as moving store based staff to warehouse roles during COVID-19.
Governance and process changes emphasized automated workflows and a simplified technology landscape, reducing the risk associated with manual paper based processes and significantly reducing HR administration time as stated by company leadership. The program expanded in 2018 with Workday Talent, Performance, Advanced Compensation and Succession, and Mecca planned further stages to add Workday Learning and to complete advanced Insights and Workforce Planning by 2021, while Workday enabled automation of government scheme applications and operational redeployments during the COVID-19 outbreak.
