In 2017, ASGC Group implemented Microsoft Power BI as a central component of an enterprise Analytics and BI initiative driven by executive management. The Microsoft Power BI deployment was part of a documented three year analytics and cloud roadmap, developed with executive and CEO-level sponsorship to establish a cloud first and BI first strategy for ASGC Group.
The implementation focused on standard Analytics and BI capabilities including data modeling, ETL orchestration, interactive dashboards, and self service reporting to support construction and real estate operational decision making. Microsoft Power BI was used to surface analytics for a labor and asset tracking Internet of Things initiative, enabling consolidated visualization and operational reporting tied to the project objective of optimizing labor productivity by 6 percent.
The solution architecture integrated Microsoft Power BI with Microsoft Azure infrastructure components, leveraging Azure SQL DB for relational data storage, Azure Machine Learning for advanced analytics workflows, and Office 365 and SharePoint Online for content and collaboration. Power BI dashboards consumed telemetry and workforce data from the IoT labor and asset tracking implementation, and were instrumented to report against the Laborer HRMS, Payroll, and the corporate Intranet which were also placed on cloud architectures designed and architected during the program.
Governance and rollout were coordinated at the executive level, with direct interfacing with the CEO to approve and enforce the BI and cloud first vision, and with procurement participation in solution selection and purchasing exceeding 3,000,000 USD. The program leadership also led architectural design and budget planning for cloud services and allocated more than 2,000,000 USD to the IoT labor and asset tracking initiative, while documenting a three year roadmap to guide staged analytics and cloud adoption across ASGC Group.
