The implementation emphasized catalog adoption with a goal toward 100% catalog implementation, and consolidated six fragmented requisitioning and purchasing platforms into a single Coupa-based requisition and purchasing system to simplify workflow orchestration and improve user experience. Integrations focused on connecting purchase order workflows to accounts payable processing and financial ledgers to reduce manual reconciliation and improve spend visibility. Operational coverage spanned procurement, purchasing, accounts payable and finance teams across Ahold USA brands including in-store operations such as delis and pharmacies as well as ecommerce fulfillment through Peapod. Governance shifted to centralized catalog and purchasing controls, enabling purchasing to scale and leverage volume buying. Reported outcomes from the initiative included a 91% reduction in pending invoices and $36 million in identified savings, and internal stakeholders credited Coupa with transforming procurement and invoice management across the company.
