In 2017, Ability Building Center engaged Vertex Systems and implemented Vertex Systems TimeWorksPlus as the core Time and Attendance solution to standardize time capture and billing workflows. The deployment targeted payroll, finance and HR processes across Ability Building Center operations in the U.S. Midwest and was positioned to improve timekeeping and client billing efficiency.
Vertex Systems TimeWorksPlus was implemented alongside Billing Manager, Client Payroll Manager and Vocational Time Manager, delivering combined capabilities for electronic time tracking, client-specific billing runs, client payroll processing and vocational time administration. Configuration work focused on mapping staff time entries to billing codes, automating billing batch processing, and establishing client payroll routines to support service billing and payroll cycles.
Operational coverage centered on payroll and finance teams and HR administration within the Midwest sites, where the system was used to drive end-to-end time to bill and payroll workflows. Governance and process changes included centralizing billing runs and standardizing time approval workflows to reduce manual handoffs. The implementation produced faster billing cycles and improved accuracy, cutting billing processing from five days to three, reducing labor costs and freeing staff time for client-facing work.
