| Microsoft | Microsoft Dynamics NAV | Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central | ERP Financial | ERP Financial Management | n/a | 2018 | 2019 |
In 2018 Activar migrated from Microsoft Dynamics NAV to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central as its core ERP Financial platform, deploying Business Central On-Premises (BC14) to support manufacturing operations across its subsidiaries based in Bloomington, MN. The implementation centered on centralizing financial management and operational ERP capabilities while preserving existing on-premises architecture and SQL-based reporting stacks.
The deployment included configuration of core financials, inventory management, production management, and sales and purchasing workflows consistent with ERP Financial requirements, with customization work carried forward from NAV into Business Central. Existing customizations such as a shop quoting tool and tailored NAV objects were re-implemented or refactored, and reporting capability was consolidated using Jet Express and Jet Analytics along with SQL views, stored procedures, and Reporting Services for management reports.
Integrations and adjunct modules implemented as part of the Business Central environment included Insight Works for Shop Floor Data Collection and Mobile Warehouse Data, Lanham Associates E-Ship for carrier processing, SAV and CHRobinson LTL integration, DriveWorks for item and production BOM routing insertion, Bartender and Commander for barcode label printing, Zetadocs Capture Plus for document management, uniPoint for quality management, Rockysoft/StockIQ for third-party planning, and Salesforce for CRM synchronization. Development and extension work used C/AL artifacts historically and migrated development practices toward Visual Studio Code and the AL Language, while SQL connectivity underpinned reporting and data exchange.
Governance and rollout were led by the Business Systems & Applications Manager, who coordinated cross-functional requirements, managed incremental upgrades from NAV 2009 through NAV 2018 and into Business Central, and oversaw customization, integration testing, and ongoing application support. The program emphasized preserving operational continuity for manufacturing, warehouse, sales, and finance teams through staged upgrades and controlled refactoring of existing NAV customizations and integrations.
