Microsoft Legacy Microsoft Dynamics GP ERP Financial ERP Financial Management n/a 2011 2011
In 2011, Active Tree Services implemented Microsoft Dynamics GP as its core ERP Financial application for enterprise finance and management reporting. Active Tree Services is an Australian vegetation management firm operating nationally, and the deployment was led by CIO Justin Sheppherd to address slow reporting, limited integration and manual re-keying across finance and CRM functions. The implementation formed part of a whole-of-business Microsoft stack that included Microsoft Dynamics GP, Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Microsoft Office SharePoint Server, Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Reporting Services, with Microsoft Dynamics GP serving as the primary ERP Financial system. The project scope emphasized financial management and consolidated reporting, data integrity, and reducing duplicated transaction entry while preserving an existing SharePoint collaboration layer that was already well accepted by about 200 IT users. Architecturally the solution used Microsoft SQL Server as the central database tier and Microsoft Reporting Services for management reporting, with integrations between Microsoft Dynamics GP, Microsoft Dynamics CRM and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server to share transactional and document data. This integration pattern supported cross-functional workflows across finance, CRM and project collaboration, enabling finance and business teams to access consistent information without bespoke point to point interfaces. Governance and rollout were organized to standardize the platform for IT support and increase user adoption, with explicit project goals to speed management reporting, reduce manual re-keying, improve analytics while maintaining data integrity, and ensure uniform use across the business. Justin Sheppherd’s mandate prioritized a standardized, supportable architecture and retained SharePoint as the enterprise document management and collaboration layer.

Microsoft Legacy Microsoft 365 Collaboration Collaboration n/a 2021 2021
In 2021, Active Tree Services implemented Microsoft 365 as its primary Collaboration platform. The company profile indicates roughly 1,000 employees based in Australia, and the organization’s public website references use of Microsoft 365, confirming the application footprint is visible in their digital estate. The Microsoft 365 deployment centers on core collaboration workloads that are typical for the Collaboration category, including Exchange Online for mail, Microsoft Teams for synchronous collaboration and meetings, SharePoint Online for intranet and team sites, OneDrive for user file sync, and the Office productivity suite for authoring. Tenant-level configuration and licensing management were established to align these modules under a single Microsoft 365 tenant, enabling unified policy and provisioning workflows. Identity and access controls are operated through the native Azure Active Directory identity plane bundled with Microsoft 365, providing centralized authentication and role-based administration for corporate and field users. The implementation supports device and endpoint access patterns consistent with mobile and desktop productivity, extending collaboration tools to operations, field crews, and corporate support functions. Governance was structured around tenant administration, role-based access, and content lifecycle controls to manage team site creation, external sharing, and mailbox provisioning. Operational adoption emphasized standard collaboration workflows, centralized policy enforcement, and administrative governance within the Microsoft 365 environment, aligned to the Collaboration category and the organization’s service delivery model.
