L7 Informatics Legacy L7 LIMS Laboratory Management ERP Services and Operations n/a 2021 2021
In 2021, Advanced Regenerative Manufacturing Institute implemented L7 LIMS from L7 Informatics in a Laboratory Management deployment to digitalize and centralize its complex biofabrication processes. The project targeted ARMI’s Tissue Foundry platform and Deep Tissue Characterization Center workflows, converting paper batch records and fragmented process documentation into an executable digital twin to support scalable manufacturing of cells, tissues, and organs. L7 LIMS implementation leveraged L7|ESP and its Builders app to design process and data models that combine automation equipment, sensors, and laboratory instrumentation data into a single centralized repository. Functional capabilities implemented include automated workflow orchestration, centralized structured data capture, unit operation execution models, and end to end data provenance across batches and experiments. The implementation captured equipment, performers, materials, process parameters, dates, and testing results in a unified Laboratory Management data model. Integrations were explicitly scoped to consolidate four separate point solutions classified as MES, LIMS, EBR, and Inventory, reducing discrete digital silos by contextualizing their outputs on the L7 platform. Data ingestion and automation were implemented across the full cell and tissue manufacturing sequence, including Tissue Harvest and Cell Banking, Expansion Culture, Cell Harvest and Wash, Scaffold Fabrication, Tissue Assembly and Maturation, and Tissue Preservation Packaging and Transport. The centralized data source connected operational execution on the Tissue Foundry with analytics workflows in the Deep Tissue Characterization Center. Governance and operationalization workstreams addressed regulatory compliance and validation complexity, including a fourfold validation plan, IT infrastructure provisioning, subject matter expert training, and process design for SMAC manufacturing requirements. The program emphasized process virtualization, standardized execution templates, and centralized metadata models to break down departmental and organizational data silos and to enable repeatable, auditable manufacturing procedures. The deployment produced greater collaboration, transparency, and insight into process data by making operational data visible and accessible across ARMI, supporting increased workflow efficiencies and throughput for scalable, consistent manufacturing of cells, tissues, and organs. L7 LIMS served as the Laboratory Management backbone to unify process execution, instrument integrations, and analytics readiness for advanced regenerative manufacturing.
