Dassault Systemes Legacy Dassault CATIA Computer-Aided Design (CAD) PLM and Engineering n/a 2005 2005
In 2005, Aerosviluppi implemented Dassault CATIA in Computer-Aided Design (CAD). The deployment established Dassault CATIA as the primary CAD authoring environment for mechanical design across the company, supporting design and development of aircraft and helicopter assembly equipment, flight simulators, and flying parts. Configuration focused on core CAD capabilities typical of the Computer-Aided Design (CAD) category, including 3D parametric modeling, complex surface modeling, assembly structure management, and production drawing generation. Dassault CATIA was used by Mechanical Designers to create detailed part geometry and by design teams to manage assemblies and documentation required for in-house prototype builds. Operational coverage centered on the Technical Office in Lonate Pozzolo and extended into the Production Department where a Prototype Production Coordinator provided technical support for in-house simulator construction. Aerosviluppi used Dassault CATIA to coordinate design deliverables with external collaborators and suppliers, and to meet specification needs for customers including CGS-OHB, AgustaWestland, and Alenia Aermacchi now Leonardo Company. Governance placed the Technical Office as the central owner of CAD standards and design-to-production handoff processes, with the Prototype Production Coordinator bridging design iterations and shop floor execution. The implementation emphasized standardized CAD authoring and supplier technical support workflows rather than enterprise integrations or centralized IT orchestration.
