In 2019 Aga Khan Foundation USA implemented Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central as an ERP Financial solution to centralize finance and operational control across its global network. The rollout targeted 34 organizational units spanning AKF’s 18 country footprint and was executed under a centralized production instance architecture with each unit provisioned as a separate company within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
The implementation included a global template approach that standardized Master Data Management and Dimensions, Core Finance implementations, Purchase Order Processing, Accounts Payable, Grants Donations and Receivables Management, Fixed Assets management, Bank Reconciliation, Budgeting and Forecasting, Consolidation, and Inter Company Transfers. Workflow implementation for approval and authorization of payments purchase requests and purchase orders was configured, and user groups and permissions were defined based on user roles to enforce data access controls.
Unikul Solutions developed and deployed customized solution units and integrated them into Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, and existing data were migrated into the new platform. Dashboards and financial reporting were implemented to provide analytical reporting, and a web portal for staff suppliers and partners was provisioned to extend operational access. The deployment used a single production tenant with logical company separation to maintain centralized governance while isolating unit data.
Governance and rollout followed Unikul’s global template methodology, units completed standardized templates during setup, and exhaustive test cases and a traceability matrix were used to validate requirements through design development and UAT. Continuous end user training was provided during implementation to accelerate template adoption and data migration, and a global support model with an incident management ticketing system was established to manage user issues post rollout.
Outcomes reported by the project team included centralized browser access to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central for all AKF users and improved system availability and user experience. AKF management gained a consolidated real time view of financial purchase and grant data without relying on unit-level extracts, configured permissions addressed data security concerns, workflows enforced transactional approvals, and custom development filled identified functional gaps while preserving the centralized ERP Financial architecture.

In 2019 Aga Khan Foundation USA implemented EveryAction CRM. EveryAction CRM is deployed as their Donor and Fundraising Management solution and is used on the Aga Khan Foundation USA website to capture online donations and constituent records.
The implementation focuses on core donor and constituent management capabilities typical of Donor and Fundraising Management systems, including unified constituent profiles, gift and pledge tracking, campaign and appeals management, online giving form hosting, and segmentation for targeted outreach. Configuration work emphasized transaction history consolidation and list segmentation workflows to support the development and digital fundraising functions.
EveryAction CRM is embedded into the public website to route form submissions and online gifts directly into the donor database, supporting development, digital engagement, and donor relations teams. The deployment aligns with a web-hosted CRM architecture that consolidates web-originated donor data into centralized constituent records and supports form-driven ingestion into the platform.
Governance and operational scope center on centralized donor records and segmentation-driven campaign workflows, with process changes to ensure web-submitted gifts populate constituent records and support stewardship and fundraising outreach. Operational responsibilities are concentrated in the development, digital engagement, and donor relations functions within the organization.
