| PROS | Legacy | PROS Revenue Management | Demand Forecasting and Planning | SCM | n/a | 2020 | 2020 | In 2020, Air China leveraged PROS Revenue Management in the Demand Forecasting and Planning category to advance seat-level pricing and network revenue controls. Air China, China’s flag carrier and a market leader in air passenger transportation and air cargo, uses PROS Revenue Management to calculate fare mixes that aim to maximize revenue uplift on every departure. PROS Revenue Management was applied to core revenue management workflows including demand forecasting, fare valuation, network optimization science, and the computation of seat-level expected revenue. The solution determines which seats to sell to which passenger, when to sell them, and at what price, replacing manual pricing heuristics with automated forecasting and optimization that supports both point-of-sale and connecting traffic decisions. Operational responsibility sits with Air China’s revenue management analysts, who use PROS Revenue Management to optimize inventory and controls across the carrier’s network on a day-to-day basis. The implementation covers pricing and inventory controls for connecting flights as well as point-of-sale segmentation, and it embeds forecasting and valuation outputs into analysts’ decision workflows without reported reliance on named integration products. The PROS solution materially changed Air China’s management methodology by enabling more scientific forecasting, refined fare valuation, and improved handling of connecting itineraries, according to Xin Wang Senior Manager of Revenue Management for Air China. Moving forward the company planned to use PROS Revenue Management to fine-tune revenue management approaches in response to more volatile and dynamic demand patterns in the post-pandemic environment. |
