In 2020, Ajinomoto Bio-Pharma Services implemented Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne as its ERP Financial platform, replacing Microsoft Dynamics GP. The initiative ran in parallel with a CMMS deployment and concentrated on maintenance materials, stockroom operations, purchasing, receiving, and core financials. The implementation targeted physical stock locations that included mezzanines, a central stockroom and external containers where parts had been unrecorded for years, bringing those inventories into system control.
Configuration work focused on purchasing and receiving workflows, parts master and inventory management, and financial modules such as general ledger and accounts payable consistent with ERP Financial capabilities. Functional workflows implemented included parts receiving, signout tracking for mechanics, mapped stock locations, and the consolidation of inventory records into financial reporting streams. Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne was configured to support materials sourcing, receiving transactions, inventory valuation and procurement reconciliation.
Operational integration connected Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne to the CMMS for materials consumption and maintenance work order reconciliation. The rollout covered maintenance, purchasing, accounting and plant management teams, with implementation tasks including hands on parts receiving and training of replacement stockroom staff. At project close the implementation team handed over sustained operations to the stockroom operating team, with trained staff operating within the new ERP driven processes.
Governance and process changes included formalized purchasing and receiving procedures, creation of scale stockroom layouts to support inventory accuracy, weekly coordination between plant management and accounting for maintenance spend oversight, and coordinated disposal and sale of retired capital assets. The program produced explicit outcomes such as improved parts traceability, standardized receiving and documented handoff of day to day stockroom operations under Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne.

| QAD | Legacy | QAD Adaptive ERP (ex MFG/PRO) | Manufacturing ERP | ERP Services and Operations | n/a | 2015 | 2015 |
In 2015 Ajinomoto Bio-Pharma Services implemented QAD Adaptive ERP (ex MFG/PRO) as a cloud-based Manufacturing ERP to consolidate fragmented systems and to support strict cGMP and regulatory reporting requirements. The deployment centralized lot level transaction information, inventory control, and regulatory reporting for their San Diego cGMP manufacturing and aseptic fill finish operations.
The implementation configured QAD Item Attributes, Quality Control and Automation Solutions including the Item Attributes and Quality Order capabilities, bringing QC testing and QA release workflows from paper into an electronic, auditable process. QAD Adaptive ERP (ex MFG/PRO) was used to enable real time Certificate of Analysis printing, barcode label printing, and handheld scanning for receiving, cycle counts, issue to work orders and inventory transfers, aligning warehouse floor activity with inventory master data and quality records.
Integrations were deliberately constrained to stay within the QAD environment, with Ajinomoto Bio-Pharma Services working with QAD development to implement label printing and barcode workflows inside the QAD system rather than adopting a third party label solution. Operational coverage included the cGMP warehouse, Materials Management, QA and QC functions, and process development inputs for lot traceability and DQSA readiness.
Governance and rollout followed a structured vendor selection and validation path, Ajinomoto Bio-Pharma Services evaluated over 20 ERP vendors, used process maps based on life sciences best practices for rapid deployment, and included system validation as part of the implementation. Explicit outcomes documented by the company include reduced warehouse data entry time, faster receiving, electronic QC and QA release visibility, real time CofA printing, and the ability to support a larger warehouse footprint without increasing headcount, while meeting FDA and international cGMP expectations.
